Blast Points Podcast: Episode 163 goes over Celebration news, the announced Episode IX panel, and new guest. Then it’s all about explosions as they talk about the most memorable explosions throughout the Star Wars saga. From sad ones like the death of Ratts Tyerell, gross ones like the Grievous’ guts blowing up, slow ones like Jedha, and explosion marathons like the security cameras in the Death Star detention area, they cover a wide variety and have fun with it.

They share their thoughts on the use of unreliable narrators in Star Wars, how the crawl is framed as a story, the idea of R2 telling the story to the Whills, Obi-Wan’s unreliability, the use of unreliable narrators in things outside the films like the Phasma novel, and they wrap up with listener questions. This episode features the host, Shannon McCarter, as she talks about what people think of when they think of Star Wars, Star Wars fandom, the diversity of Star Wars fandom, and the objective of the podcast. Then she shares her Star Wars story, how she got into Star Wars, finding Star Wars podcasts she linked, and how her Star Wars fandom elevated. Great episode. Top notch audio and production quality.

She talks about her Star Wars fandom, fan art, podcasting, how Star Wars has impacted her life, and what she’s looking forward to most.

Lipstick and Lightsabers: Episode 3 features Caitlin Pleasher from the podcast Skytalkers. She talks about how she got into Star Wars, her Star Wars fandom, podcasting, getting to know other people, and more. Getting to listen to a few of these episodes, it’s an interesting format and way to give fellow female fans an outlet to talk about their fandom. Definitely has some potential and is worth subscribing to. The episodes are also short so it’s easy to fit them into your podcast playlists. Audio quality does vary from guest to guest, though.

There’s some audio clips for some of the categories which worked out okay but could use some work. Probably a good thing that they didn’t do that for every category. Overall good episode. The Legion Outriders: Episode 53 is hosted by John, Matt and Josh as they talk about various things, barricada shirts, and the introduction of tauntauns for Fantasy Flight Games. They talk about the sculpt of the tauntauns, their game mechanics, card upgrades, Rebels veteran rules, and the Imperial analog. Afterwards they go over listener questions. Very focused game podcast for Fantasy Flight Games, so if you’re a player, you’ll want to check it out, but if you’re not one, much of the content isn’t going to have a lot of meaning. Excellent audio and production quality and great hosts.

Interesting hosts, interesting guest, and I like the half hour format. Good episode.

Women of the Whills: Episode 5 Tammy and Nedi talk about the Episode IX reddit leaks on character costumes. Very interesting conversation about Kylo’s mask and the Japanese pottery art form of kintsugi. They also get into a little bit of psychology for Kylo Ren and the symbolism of him returning to the mask. They go on to talk about Rey and her costume, and the possible meaning and symbolism there. Plus they touch on when they think we’ll get the Episode IX trailer and title. Good episode.
