Via The Hollywood Reporter, later this year we will get a five episode series called LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales. The 22 minute episodes will air on Disney XD and will present a new take on the six films as seen through the eyes of R2-D2 and C-3PO. Sounds like a pretty cool idea and if Michael Price is onboard for these, then we’ll certainly be in for some good entertainment.

New ‘Heir to the Jedi’ Excerpt

Star Wars Books has posted a new mini-excerpt for Kevin Hearne’s upcoming Luke novel Heir to the Jedi.

When I’d first felt the Force on the Millennium Falcon, it had been the barest tickle of a presence in my consciousness and in the air around me that wasn’t attributable to my five senses. Since then I had reached out to the Force on numerous occasions, and each time it grew marginally easier to make that contact and feel the Force swirl and coalesce around me, a not-quite-tangible but very real sensation, sort of like exercising and discovering over time that the same routine requires less effort because your strength and endurance have increased.

I didn’t have any goal in mind other than increasing my awareness of the Force; there were no vegetables or other objects to nudge around in the cockpit, anyway, and I figured a greater grasp of the Force would help me perform such tasks more quickly later on, and perhaps allow me to move larger objects, or accomplish any number of other Jedi exercises.

The streaming starlines of hyperspace were excellent for clearing my mind. No distractions, just visual white noise. I remembered training with the remote, wearing a helmet with the blast shield down and feeling the Force as a power within and without that worked with me and yet was not me. That had been a twinge, a tiny awakening of a new part of my mind, like a half-glimpsed dawn through sleep-encrusted eyes. I knew I wasn’t fully awake yet; I think part of me wanted to go back to sleep. But the dawn comes whether you sleep through it or not, and I think the Force might be like that—always there, but unseen until you make the effort.

My breathing slowed and deepened, and soon I became aware that there were others breathing on the ship. Drusil was nearest, sitting in an attitude of prayer or perhaps meditation like myself, attempting to soothe away her worries. Perhaps the activity of her mind was pure math. Farther back and to the left, Nakari felt happy, though I didn’t know about what. Her breath was uneven and sort of purred—was she humming to herself? I couldn’t hear that to confirm…

Heir to the Jedi will be out in hardcover, digital and audiobook formats next Tuesday.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Bombad Radio: Episode 188 starts out with some Star Wars: Battlefront rumors then cuts over to their interview with voice actor Trevor Devall. This one turns out to be a great interview. Trevor talks about some of the roles he’s done, voicing Rocket Raccoon, dubbing anime and even attending My Little Pony cons. Throughout the interview he does a lot of spontaneous voices and it’s a lot of fun to listen to. If you’ve listened to some of the recent voice actor interviews and have been a little let down, this one is a real pick me up. I’d love to hear them interview Trevor again in the future.

Episode 187 features an interview with voice actor Cam Clarke. Cam talks a little about voicing Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, how his dream job was being Snoopy in a Charlie Brown musical, doing voice work for the He-man reboot, voicing Patrick Stewart, getting letters from Star Wars fans for his small role in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and coming from a family of talented entertainers. It’s an interesting interview but Cam keeps it kind of mellow and doesn’t do too much in the way of voices and doesn’t have too many really interesting stories about voice acting. Plus the audio gets a little wonky every now and then. Unless you’re dead set on listening to all the interviews, I’d recommend skipping this one and hitting episode 188 instead.

Coffee With Kenobi: Episode 32 starts off with some standalone movie news and Celebration news, then the hosts talk with their wives and a very interesting discussion evolves. It’s a fun episode with them talking about what they know about Star Wars, what it’s like being married to a Star Wars fan, and they even have a Star Wars quiz. Afterwards there’s some listener feedback, but all in all, it’s a good show. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Dark Horse Comics has printed a lot of Star Wars comics over the years. They’ve done regular issues, issues with heavy carded stock covers, omnibuses, trade paperbacks, hardcover omnibuses, hardcover trade paperbacks and large format hardcovers. However, I don’t think any of them have been as fancy as The Star Wars Deluxe HC Edition. Click here to read our full review.
