Book News

A Hero By Any Other Name is now available as an eBook on Amazon. This superhero anthology includes stories by Aaron Allston, Michael A. Stackpole,  Janine K. Spendlove, Bryan Young, Maxwell Alexander Drake, R.T. Kaelin, Maggie Allen and Ron Garner.

Author Michael A. Stackpole posted on Facebook that he’ll be teaching online writing classes for Arizona State next year. Certainly something to keep in mind for those interested in furthering their education.

Martha Wells posted a teaser for her upcoming Raksura novella. For those who haven’t read her Books of the Raksura series yet, there is a discounted compilation available on Kindle, Nook and Kobo. Fans of Martha Wells’ Emilie & the Hollow World can also pre-order the sequel Emilie & the Sky World now on Amazon and B&N.

Author Paul S. Kemp wrote an interesting piece on mid-list authors and core readers. Paul points out how a core group of readers can really help authors with the “noisy marketplace”. Click here to check it out.

Comic News

Comic writer Tom Taylor is working on a Mad Max motion comic. You can check out the teaser below.

Convention News

Space City Con kicks off today in Houston, TX. Star Wars guests include Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actors Stephen Stanton, T.C. Carson and Adrienne Wilkinson, and Star Wars artist Bill Hughes. The 501st Legion and Rebel Legion will also be there.

Author Drew Karpyshyn revealed that he’s going to try and make New York Comic Con this year (however Gen Con won’t be happening). Certainly good news for east coast fans who missed out on seeing Drew at SDCC. He’s also eyeing up LoneStarCon so Texas fans may get some love as well.

TheForce.Net has reported that Star Wars Celebrations are indeed dropping the roman numeral system. From now on they’ll just be using the location and year to distinguish them.

Other News

An interesting story out of Celebration Europe II is one dedicated Dave Dorman fan who got his entire back tattooed with an image from one of Dave’s Star Wars prints. Click here to check it out.

James Arnold Taylor (voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Star Wars: The Clone Wars) has a new video up on Youtube, and this one you will not want to miss. It’s the full hour long version of his show “Talking With Myself”. If you’ve never seen it before, it’s worth watching.

There were a lot of great photos from Star Wars Celebration Europe II, but this one has to be my favorite: Star Wars: The Clone Wars supervising director Dave Filoni with legendary Star Wars artist Tsuneo Sanda.

If you’d like to nab a piece of Star Wars Celebration Europe II, some of it is available online up until August 22, 2013. The selected merchandise includes the Star Wars Rebels shirts.

John Morton, who played Boba Fett briefly in The Empire Strikes Back, wrote up a nice piece for the Star Wars Blog. He recounts playing the role and coming to terms with accepting it. It’s definitely worth reading.

Last but not least, Tricia Barr from FANgirl Blog and Teresa Delgado from Star Wars Bookworms have joined forces for a special Fangirl Next Door series on Youtube. You can check out the first five episodes right here.
