Build A Death Star? Yes We Can!

Perhaps this is one of the first signs of our impending doom, but regardless, an online petition to build a Death Star has secured over 27,000 signatures. This is noteworthy because it only needed 25,000 signatures in order to require a response from the White House. That’s right, our government actually has to make an official response to this petition to build a Death Star. Here is the exact wording of the petition.

Those who sign here petition the United States government to secure funding and resources, and begin construction on a Death Star by 2016.

By focusing our defense resources into a space-superiority platform and weapon system such as a Death Star, the government can spur job creation in the fields of construction, engineering, space exploration, and more, and strengthen our national defense.

According to Mashable, Lehigh University students estimated the cost of building a Death Star to be in the ballpark of 852 quadrillion dollars. Who needs a fiscal cliff when we can have a Death Star? Anyways, according to Wired.com, the White House has a month to respond, so maybe we’ll know before the year ends.

While we eagerly await their response, let us enjoy some funny photos to celebrate this momentous occasion.

  1. “You didn’t build that.” LMAO.

2016 headline prediction: “Obama to raise taxes on world to pay for Death Star”. If we don’t build one, China will.
