Bombad Radio Interviews Tom Kane of TCW

Bombad Radio did a nice podcast interview with The Clone Wars voice actor Tom Kane who voices Yoda, Admiral Yularen and does the narration. Tom revealed some pretty interesting things about Yoda, like a Yoda arc for The Clone Wars Season 6 which managed to get George Lucas to reveal a tiny bit of the backstory for the mysterious Jedi master as well as shedding some light on communing with Qui-Gon. Tom did mention that there might be a chance that they’ll finish that arc for a bonus content release, so let’s all keep our fingers crossed as it sounded like a really awesome episode arc. Click here to listen to the full interview. Note it kicks in pretty fast after a little news and introductory matter from the hosts.

Happy Birthday, Frank Oz

We’re not sure if this qualifies as Yoda’s birthday, but it certainly is Frank Oz’s. Director, actor, voice actor, and puppeteer, Frank Oz is a man of many talents. He has voiced Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, Grover, Bert, Cookie Monster, and of course the sage old Jedi Grandmaster Yoda. Little Shop of Horrors, The Score, The Stepford Wives, and Death at a Funeral are also among the fourteen films he’s directed.

Born in Hereford, England, Frank’s parents were both puppeteers, thus truth be told it was in his genes. His mother and father were both Holocaust refugees who actually fought with the Dutch Brigades against the Nazis. The family moved to Oakland, California when he was five years old. Later in life Frank went on to work for Jim Henson’s Muppets in The Muppet Show and Sesame Street, then moving on as a director with his first film The Dark Crystal in 1982 which he directed with Jim Henson. The Muppets Take Manhattan was the first film he directed by himself. His latest project is Monsters University where he’ll once again be doing the voice of Fungus.

Talk Like Yoda Day It Is

Today is Talk Like Yoda Day! Yes, May 21st is unofficially Talk Like Yoda Day as it coincides with the day Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back was released in the United States, hence Yoda’s debut to the world at large. Thus today is Yoda’s 31st anniversary! So while you’re out and about today, feel free to share some sage wisdom with backward cryptic sentences. To kick things off here on Roqoo Depot we would like to share some of our favorite Yoda quotes…

Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own counsel will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away… to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.

Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship.

Yes, run! Yes, a Jedi’s strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi-Wan’s apprentice.

Luke: Vader… Is the dark side stronger?

Yoda: No, no, no. Quicker, easier, more seductive.

Luke: But how am I to know the good side from the bad?

Yoda: You will know… when you are calm, at peace, passive. A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, NEVER for attack.

In this issue, Yoda teaches Ashoka and Chewie how to use their angry face.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Magazine #4 hit the bookstore shelves yesterday and hits the comic shops today. To quote from TOS:

In this issue’s comic strip adventure, ‘In the Air,’ Count Dooku plans to disrupt the Republic’s supply of tibanna gas — a valuable starship hyperdrive coolant. Commander Cody expertly chases off a flight of droid ships from an Ugnaught mine, but could that really be the end of the Separatist attack? It’s up to Obi-Wan and Yoda to find out…

There are so many clones in this issue that you’ll need to pay close attention to this issue’s handy ‘Spotters Guide!’ Meet the awesome Delta Squad and discover your clone destiny by taking the Clone Troopers Engineering exam — are you pilot material or will you be stuck with kitchen duty?

Additionally there will be a character study of Chewbacca. So pick up your copy and find out what makes your favorite Wookie tick.
