Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 106 covers a lot of topics, from Bravestar to Bucky O’Hare and the discovery that Bor Gullet might be in Jabba’s Palace. Tons of fun as always with some extra retro tv discussion in this one.

Children of the Force: Episode 59 covers The Last Jedi, book news, Jedha religions and they get into some real world politics.

Classic Marvel Star Wars Comics: Episode 12 starts out with Randy Martinez talking about Star Wars Celebration, then they review Marvel Star Wars #12. Randy clarifies the roles of an inker and penciller, they talk about Luke and his red lightsaber, the visuals and dialog that stands out for better or worse, and they try and draw some Rogue One connections. Fun episode. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Assembly of Geeks: they go over some of their experiences at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim. Afterwards they discuss their reactions to the Superman v. Batman: Dawn of Justice trailer, Peggy Carter renewal news, kid who reaches out to George Lucas about Jedi and marriage, they discuss The Force Awakens trailer, and then they have a guest on to talk and speculate about how BB-8 works. With lots of geeky discussion and a heaping dose of Star Wars, this is a good one to add to your playlist.

Bombad Radio: Star Wars: Battlefront Panel features audio from the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim panel. I haven’t had a chance to watch the livestream video so this was a good way for me to catch up on what happened at the panel. Notably the game will be 1st and 3rd person, Sullust is in the game, heroes and villains will be playable, it will be out November 17 with the battle of Jakku DLC coming out December 8 for free. But aside from all that, there’s some fun stories, especially Doug Chiang’s comments about working on the project.

EndorCast: Episode III recaps their experiences at Star Wars Celebration. It’s interesting because in this case, it’s from the viewpoints of members of the Rebel Legion and Mandalorian Mercs. They talk about the events they were able to go to, meeting Dave Filoni, Sam Witwer and Anthony Daniels, the running of the Willrow Hoods, the RebelForce Radio party, the 501st bash, the Willrow Hood ice cream social, and their trooping events. They also have an interview with Felix Silla who talks about The Adam’s Family, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Flash Gordon and Return of the Jedi. I did not know he played Cousin It or that he doubled for Short Round. It’s a cool interview, and if you’re looking for Celebration recaps and stories, they have you covered there too. Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Bombad Radio:¬†Episode 194 includes several guests. The first guest is Star Wars autograph collector Frank D. Rich who talks about collecting autographs and Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, giving some tips for first timers and some discussion of pricing. Then they play a clip of a James Arnold Taylor interview from Celebration VI where James talked about faith and Star Wars before seguing to their second guest, Greg, who is behind the Celebration of Worship events. Then they cover some news and jump to their third guest, voice actor Stephen Stanton. They talk about Life Itself, Star Wars Celebration, Starlight Foundation, the 501st Bash, Tarkin, Peter Cushing and Doctor Who. But that’s not all as they have one more guest in this episode,¬†Noah Tarnow, who talks about Big Quiz Thing, what type of questions they’ll be doing at Celebration, and they break into some general fan discussion on Marvel, DC, comics, films and the Star Wars movies. It’s kind of a lengthy discussion, and puts this episode at a few minutes shy of two hours, so be prepared for a long one. Still, they have some good guests and some good discussions.

Episode 196 begins with some TFA trailer discussion then breaks to their interview with voice actor Bob Bergen, most recognizably known for voicing Porky Pig since Mel Blanc’s passing. While Bob is not much of a storyteller, and he doesn’t share his voices, he does give out a lot of advice and insight for voice actors looking to break into the business. He also shares how he got the role of Porky Pig, how he Mel Blanc as a kid, and some of the other work he’s done.

Episode 197 has an interview with Ultimate Star Wars author Adam Bray who talks about the project, working with canon and legends, how much of Star Wars Rebels he knew about when working on the book, and his contributions. Then they interview the voice actors for the Star Wars audiobooks: January Lavoy, Marc Thompson and Jonathan Davies. They talk about working on Star Wars books, the challenges of doing audiobooks, as well as the perks. With four interviewees in this episode, it’s jam packed with Star Wars goodness and all of the interviews are top notch. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Assembly of Geeks:Failing X-Men, Reviving Spider-Man & Missing The Goonies” has lots of the usual geeky discussion. They talk about movies that should have ended sooner, they have a review of Kingsmen: The Secret Service, they cover some news topics like Harry Potter Funko items, and the conundrum of Marvel being a comic book company or a movie company. They also tackle the movie The Goonies and whether that type of movie works any more or whether child adventure movies have changed into something else. Lots of interesting topics and fun discussion.

Coffee With Kenobi: Rebels Reactions “Call to Action” episode features Tarkin voice actor Stephen Stanton who adds some excellent behind the scenes insight to the episode as he talks about his character and the show. They also talk some about Star Wars: The Clone Wars and James Luceno’s book Tarkin. Excellent episode and one you’ll definitely want to catch.

Disney Vault Talk:Top Ten Live Action Films” features Steve, Teresa and Greg as they cover listener feedback then go over their top ten live action Disney films. Their choices cover a lot of time periods, from modern to classics, and they all weigh in with different choices and the reasons behind their picks. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Bombad Radio: Episode 188 starts out with some Star Wars: Battlefront rumors then cuts over to their interview with voice actor Trevor Devall. This one turns out to be a great interview. Trevor talks about some of the roles he’s done, voicing Rocket Raccoon, dubbing anime and even attending My Little Pony cons. Throughout the interview he does a lot of spontaneous voices and it’s a lot of fun to listen to. If you’ve listened to some of the recent voice actor interviews and have been a little let down, this one is a real pick me up. I’d love to hear them interview Trevor again in the future.

Episode 187 features an interview with voice actor Cam Clarke. Cam talks a little about voicing Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, how his dream job was being Snoopy in a Charlie Brown musical, doing voice work for the He-man reboot, voicing Patrick Stewart, getting letters from Star Wars fans for his small role in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and coming from a family of talented entertainers. It’s an interesting interview but Cam keeps it kind of mellow and doesn’t do too much in the way of voices and doesn’t have too many really interesting stories about voice acting. Plus the audio gets a little wonky every now and then. Unless you’re dead set on listening to all the interviews, I’d recommend skipping this one and hitting episode 188 instead.

Coffee With Kenobi: Episode 32 starts off with some standalone movie news and Celebration news, then the hosts talk with their wives and a very interesting discussion evolves. It’s a fun episode with them talking about what they know about Star Wars, what it’s like being married to a Star Wars fan, and they even have a Star Wars quiz. Afterwards there’s some listener feedback, but all in all, it’s a good show. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Assembly of Geeks: The “Female Transformers on Hoverboards” episode has an entertaining variety of geeky subjects for your listening pleasure. They talk about their favorite future items from the Back to the Future franchise and what they wish we had now (since they travel to 2015 in the film). They cover female Transformers and robot genders, Carrie Fisher confirming her appearance in Star Wars Episode VII and what that’s worth, Tricia’s controversial opinion on why Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford shouldn’t be in Episode VII, Frozen, Harry Potter theme parks, and more.

Bombad Radio: Episode 123 has a great interview with voice actor Stephen Stanton who talks a little bit about Star Wars, the Sundance Film Festival and the Roger Ebert documentary he worked on, and even special effects.

Coffee with Kenobi: Episode 11 features special guest Dr. Andrea Letamendi as they sink their teeth into some very thought provoking and interesting discussions on the villains of Star Wars. They also branch out a little with some analysis of Batman villains, which helps create a comparison between the two franchises and the subject matter. Very interesting stuff and worth a listen. When not voicing iconic Star Wars characters, Stephen Stanton likes to spend his free time creating memorable little comedy skits with his action figures. As always, they’re hilarious. Here’s his latest.

Time to catch up. Here’s what I’ve been listening to and what might be worth checking out.

501stCast: The 501stCast is a podcast ran by members of the 501st Legion and provides extensive coverage of what the 501st Legion is up to and where it’s heading. Episode 72 also featured a nice chat with The Clone Wars voice actor Stephen Stanton who talked about Tarkin, Morallo Eval and Meebur Gascon. He also went over his involvement with the Pink Five Saga. Worth checking out if you’re a Stanton or TCW fan. The episode also has quite a few links in the show notes worth clicking on.
