New Short Story from John Ostrander “Eruption”

Star Wars Books posted an update today covering various Star Wars topics including the news that Dark Horse Comics writer John Ostrander will be writing a short story for Star Wars Insider called “Eruption” which will include artwork by Jan Duursema. “It’s a fun adventure starring Je’daii Rangers Hawk Ryo from the DOTJ comic and Into the Void cover girl, Lanoree Brock.” It will be in Star Wars Insider #141 as well the upcoming novel Into the Void.

Also mentioned was a new short story pitch by Jason Fry starring a character from The Clone Wars that has been green-lighted, Tusken Raider action in John Jackson Miller’s Kenobi, and some hints on Joe Schreiber’s Maul: Lockdown that included input from James Luceno. Dawn of the Jedi will be hitting comic stores today. The new issue Dawn of the Jedi: Force Storm #3 will be out, as well as the re-issue of #0 and #1 with new covers (both of which our on their 3rd printing.

The balance of the Force on Tython has been thrown into turmoil. A ship has fallen from the sky, bringing with it a strange, dark, and hostile individual. Three young J├ędaii who felt “called” to the site of the crash now fight for their lives with their swords and the Force. But live or die, the storm that will engulf the homeworld of the Je’daii has already begun!

Only one new Star Wars release from Dark Horse comics this week, but it’s a big one. Dawn of the Jedi #1 hits stores today with two covers to choose from.

On the planet Tython, in the center of the galaxy, an order of warrior monks strives to maintain peace and to balance the mysterious power known as the Force. The new album showcases the development of the cover for Dawn of the Jedi #1, from rough sketch to pencils and inks to final color. The album is worth checking out for some nice, large sized image. Today the new Star Wars comic series Dawn of the Jedi #0 hits stores.

It began with the mysterious pyramid ships–the Tho Yor–scattered to the eight corners of the galaxy, and ended with the establishment of an Order that would change the universe forever. Here’s your first look at the Star Wars of 25,000 years ago–before there were lightsabers, when the ties to the Force were new, and before the Jedi spread out into the galaxy.

Today Roqoo Depot wishes a very happy birthday to comic artist Jan Duursema! Jan has done comic work for a lot of series, including Star Wars. From Star Wars Tales, to Republic, to Legacy, and now the upcoming Dawn of the Jedi, Jan has done some tremendous looking covers and interior panels. She’s simply one of the best Star Wars comic artists out there. Along with her wonderful art, she’s created characters like Aayla Secura, Quinlan Vos, and Cade Skywalker.
