Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Blast Points: Episode 96 starts with the Solo news, The Last Jedi news, a little Star Wars Rebels with a hot take on “Heroes of Mandalore” being the dullest season premier of Star Wars Rebels yet, which I can’t disagree with. Then they hit their main topic which is Mandalore. From the first mentions of Mandalorians, to George Lucas and Dave Filoni recreating them for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, to their appearances in Star Wars Rebels. They trace the progression of the Mandalorians and Mandalore, focusing on canon rather than legends.

Podcast Network: N/A, Runtime: 57 minutes, Rating: Good

Bombad Radio: Episode 291 starts with an interview with Star Wars author Ian Doescher. Kaela talks with Ian about Shakespeare, Star Wars, and his other work. It’s a nice little interview. At 25 minutes in, the interview ends and Jeremiah joins Kaela as they talk Star Wars news, Marvel news, and more which rounds the episode out.

Podcast Network: Bombad RadioRuntime: 58 minutes, Rating: Good

Brews and Blasters: Episode 140 is their shot-by-shot breakdown of The Last Jedi trailer. Fun discussion as always. I really liked the idea of Kylo boarding Leia’s ship for a face-to-face confrontation. Definitely worth checking out.

Podcast Network: RetroZapRuntime: 49 minutes, Rating: Fun Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Beyond the Vote: Episode 12 is their last episode, recorded on the eve of the election as they touch on the latest developments brought up on Hilary and talk some general politics. Note I listened to this one prior to the election, so I’m not sure how this one would fare if you listened to it now.

Blast Points: Episode 47 covers the Donald Glover news, some Rogue One tidbits, Daisy Ridley’s comments, new Star Wars Rebels episode titles and some brief descriptions, then they head into their main topic – is E.T. a Jedi? They talk about his ability to levitate objects and to heal, him saying home when he sees a Yoda costume, and the E.T. senators in The Phantom Menace. They even bring in The Crystal Skull as a possibility to how it all happened. Crazy awesome episode. Definitely worth a listen.

Blast Points: Episode 48 starts with news, some Episode VIII costume news, Han Solo news and the cinematographer, and they talk about the Star Wars Galactic Atlas. Their main discussion in this episode is Meco, which leads to some pretty fun and entertaining stuff. They talk about who Meco was, why he made a Star Wars disco album, the other albums he did, and they play clips of a lot of the Star Wars Meco songs, as well as some of the newer Meco Star Wars stuff. Part educational and part silly fun, this is a good episode to check out. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

The 602 Club: Episode 49 is A New Hope discussion featuring guests Bethany and Riley Blanton from Star Wars Report. It’s a great conversation on some broad topics and themes, but they dive deep into them. If you love Star Wars, this one will appeal to you, so that covers pretty much everyone. Great audio quality, great guests, great episode.

The 602 Club: Episode 47 focuses on Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath, and it does get into spoilers, though I don’t think it’s anything that would ruin the book. They provide their opinions on the book, pick it apart, but also explore all the possibilities and intriguing aspects. It’s a good episode to check out if you’ve read the book.

Bombad Radio: Episode 211 reaches back into the things that make this podcast great – Star Wars author interviews. I’m a sucker for interviews, and I love hearing from the authors of Star Wars. This one is extra special as I’ve never heard anyone interview John Whitman. If you’re not familiar with the name, he wrote the Star Wars series Galaxy of Fear which was basically the equivalent of Goosebumps. They cover that, but also his work on the audio adaptations for Dark Horse’s early Star Wars comics and the Return of the Jedi radio dramatization. He talks about how those projects came about, working with Lucasfilm on getting sound effects, and even his expertise in the martial art of Krav Maga. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Bombad Radio: Episode 161 starts off with an unboxing of Dungeons & Dragons Next, flows into a con report of SDCC 2014, then jumps into the main feature: an interview with actor Adam Lazarre-White who voiced Jacob in the Mass Effect series. Adam talks about he got into acting, his early career in soap opera, moving into voice acting, the differences between roles, identifying scenes, being the character, and even basing Jacob on Han Solo. Kind of a neat interview and worth listening to if you’re a Mass Effect fan or interesting in acting and voice acting.

Coffee with Kenobi: Episode #22 includes some feedback on the Star Wars Rebels trailer out of SDCC 2014, some comments on the X-wing revealed in the Force for Change video, and the usual “Expresso Shot” from the Bearded Trivia hitting film news including Jurassic World. Consetta Parker stops by to talk about the upcoming Rancho Obi-Wan Gala, and they interview author Ian Doescher. Ian talks about the William Shakespeare Star Wars books, finding the right voices for the characters, and even shares what he’s working on next. Lot of goodness packed into this one episode, so be sure to check it out.

Special Edition: Coffee with Kenobi Discusses SDCC 2014” includes their thoughts on the Star Wars Rebels preview clips and the character of the Inquisitor. Then they with special guest Jeff McGee (Assembly of Geeks) about SDCC and collectibles. Jeff’s always a fun guy to listen to and Star Wars Rebels and SDCC make good discussion topics. Another good one to add to your playlist.
