Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Aggressive Negotiations: Issue 008 begins a multi-episode on the fall of Anakin Skywalker. In this episode they talk about his conception in the Force and whether that was caused by Palpatine, whether Anakin should have been taken or left on Tatooine, choosing Jedi masters for him, his relationship with Padme and the Jedi’s knowledge of it, whether giving him an apprentice was a good idea, and whether his fall is even sadder after Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It’s a good discussion of all things Anakin.

Bantha Fodder: Episode 6 starts out with some miscellaneous topics, from drones to kidney stones, but things get pretty good when the main discussion kicks in. They talk about whether Rey caused Han to die in The Force Awakens. Did she push Kylo Ren into having to prove himself or did Snoke motivate him to take the leap? They throw down their arguments as each host tries to convince the other. Good one to check out. While there is a good argument for Rey leading to Han’s death, I think she’s more of a catalyst than a cause.

Beyond the Vote: Episode 002 is a solo episode with just Riley following the Carolina debate. I have to admit the podcast just doesn’t have the same dynamic without Scott. Together, they make a great team, but the solo episode wasn’t as good. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Comic Book Noob: The Atom covers the super hero’s Golden Age and Silver Age origins, the ties to the The Flash and Arrow tv shows, how he’s powered by white dwarf matter, the female version–Atomica–who I’ve read but didn’t realize it in Forever Evil, plus they give their suggestions on where to start in comics. Once again another good episode that’s both informative and entertaining. I highly recommend checking these out if you have an interest in comics and superheroes.

Comics With Kenobi: Issue #4 has a review of Star Wars #7, the Obi-Wan standalone issue, Kanan – The Last Padawan #4, and their top five favorite Star Wars: Tales stories from Dark Horse Comics. Lots of great discussion with a deep and heartfelt appreciation for the comics medium. Now, as for my favorite Star Wars: Tales stories, the first to come to mind are “Fett Club”, which is absolutely hilarious, and “Fortune, Fate, and the Natural History of the Sarlacc” with it’s gorgeous artwork by Kellie Strom. Oddly enough, I’m not a big fan of “Into the Great Unknown”.

Fly Casual: Episode 50 opens with a Disney chat. Mike talks about riding Star Tours during his recent trip to Disney World, they cover the news with Bob Iger being very happy with the cut of the film he’s seen so far, Simon Pegg talking Star Wars, Carrie Fisher writing another book, Gary Whitta talking Star Wars, new casting for Rogue One, and Senator Jebel. Changing gears, they talk about coming around to the new Star Wars books and comics, their picks for worst Star Wars books ever, and they do a Tarkin bite of the week since Cory isn’t in this episode (and the Tarkin bit was pretty good). Rounding out the episode, they do their toy coverage with the SDCC First Order trooper selling out in five minutes online and they’re experiences trying to buy it, the boost in Slave Leia sales since the controversy, the 18 foot Falcon, stores clearing out of Star Wars figures in preparation for Force Friday and new product and where to get good deals. While there was no Cory in this episode, it was still as funny as ever. It actually turned out really good with lots of laughs, on topic discussion and plenty of useful Star Wars info.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review. I’m putting this one out a day early since I’m heading out to Star Wars Celebration. Enjoy!

Bombad Radio: Episode 193 features Jeremiah and guests Jesse and Amanda as they discuss Neil Blomkamp and his Aliens sequel. They also talk about District 9, Prometheus, Alien 3, Alien vs. Predator and Alien vs. Predator: Requiem. They had a good topic for the episode, sadly it didn’t turn out the best. The audio is very weird (which Jeremiah apologizes for) which makes it kind of hard to listen to and enjoy. While I didn’t really agree a whole lot with their thoughts on the movies, I did appreciate their discussions of the comics as I haven’t checked those out.

Coffee With Kenobi: Episode #34 starts with some Rogue One discussion, a dose from the Bearded Trio, and then segues into their main topic with is a very fun conversation with the hosts of Skywalking Through Neverland. Sarah and Richard talk about how they met, how they got started in podcasting, and the extents of their Star Wars fandom. The episode wraps up with some listener feedback, and puts a bow on another great episode.

Fangirls Going Rogue: Episode #18 covers Rogue One, their Celebration shirts, shoutouts, and what panels and events they have going on at Celebration. Then they talk with Ashley Eckstein about Ahsoka, Her Universe and Celebration. Amy Ratcliffe comes on to talk a little about Celebration, and they finish things off with a character discussion on bounty hunters and Cad Bane. Another awesome episode with great guests and great discussion. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

501stCast: Episode 86 features an interview with David Collins on The Comlink, audio of George Lucas discussing his museum, and the usual roundup of troop reports. Even if you’re not looking to catch up with what the 501st is up to, this episode is worth checking out for the David Collins interview. All the troop reports are in the later half of the show if you’re looking to skip them. Personally, I kinda like hearing the troop reports as it’s a good way to stay in touch with what’s going on with the Legion.

Assembly of Geeks:More Star Trek, Hunger Games & Geek Gifts” covers some trailer discussion of Terminator: Genisys, Admiral 80’s thoughts on The Force Awakens teaser trailer, Star Trek 3 discussion, Hunger Games origin stories, movie awards, geek gift ideas, fun with tractor beams, and an introduction to Tricia’s replacement, Amy Marie.

Bombad Radio: Episode 179 features a nice interview the Mark Newbold. Mark talks about getting into fandom, running websites like Lightsaber and now Jedi News, his thoughts on Marvel getting the license for Star Wars back, and other Star Wars topics. Mark is humble as always and it’s a good interview. If you’re a fan of Radio 1138 or visit the site Jedi News UK, you should check out the episode as it’ll give you a better idea of who Mark is and what he and James Burns have accomplished. Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Assembly of Geeks:OMG! Star Wars Trailer” surprisingly doesn’t cover the trailer as much as the title of the episode would lead you to believe. They do however touch on the trailer and some of the controversies people are making a fuss over. Aside from the trailer, they also talk about the Jurassic World trailer, some comments Christian Bale made about playing Batman again, and some anniversaries for Star Trek and the Ewok movies. If you’re burnt out on TFA trailer discussions, this one is still worth checking out as Scott, Tricia and guest Jeff Roney talk a lot more about stuff outside the content of the trailer than say a scene-by-scene dissection. For fans of Assembly of Geeks, Tricia announced that she’ll be leaving the show soon do to time constraints. As a fan myself, it will be sad to see her go. Tricia has been a great part of the show and her, Scott and Jeff make a great trio.

Bombad Radio: Episode 174 features an interview with Star Wars composer Jesse Harlin who worked on Republic Commando, The Force Unleashed, Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Galaxies, The Old Republic and Star Wars 1313. He talks about composing, editing and arranging video game music, some of instruments he’s worked with, and even discusses some of the stuff he did for the cancelled Star Wars 1313 game. Sadly that music won’t be coming out, but they were able to share a snippet. Jesse teased that the game would have included Hutt gangster rap. For fans of Star Wars games or RebelForce Radio’s Star Wars Oxygen series, this is an episode worth listening to.

Episode 177 starts out with a live recording of Jeremiah and his wife watching The Force Awakens trailer and giving their initial thoughts, which I have to admit I haven’t heard anyone else do. But the real fun kicks in with Jeremiah’s interview with voice actor Corey Burton who talks about getting into the business, the voices and shows he’s done, coming up with the voices for Ziro the Hutt and Cad Bane, as well as his work for Disney and DC Comics. Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

501stCast: Episode 80 is a bit of a short episode. Ed Cook fills in for Scott Allen as co-host, and this show focuses on 501st Legion troop reports and upcoming events. Nice to hear that the Legion had some pretty good charity success at Toronto Comic Con with over $6,000 raised with shoot-a-trooper. Good podcast to check out if you want to keep up to date on Legion news.

Assembly of Geeks:Grumpy Gamorrean Godzilla” covers a variety of geeky topics which a focus on television and film news and rumors. Lots of entertaining discussion, and I really enjoyed their gag with the giant Gamorrean trampling Mos Eisley. Good way to stay up on tv and movie news for sci-fi and superhero stuff.

Bombad Radio: Episode 131 has a nice interview with Star Wars voice actor David Ankrum who voiced Wedge in Star Wars: A New Hope. It’s a very upbeat interview as David talks about his job in Star Wars, the other film work he’s done, and how he transitioned into writing and working as a talent agent.

Episode 132 is hosted by Jeremiah and Jason and begins their discussion of the novels of the Star Wars Expanded Universe. Tearing apart and assigning praise, the hosts ambitiously go through nearly every Star Wars novel to give listeners and overview of the EU and what’s to come. In future episodes, they’ll be diving into deeper discussion on specific books, but in this episode they touch on all of them. If you’ve already the books, you may not agree with all their opinions, but I have to give them props for actually discussing each one and giving new readers an idea of what to expect. This would be an excellent episode to listen to if you’re new to the EU and would like a crash course on the books.
