Author Paul S. Kemp has posted a new excerpt for his upcoming Forgotten Realms novel The Godborn.

Telemont leaned on his magical staff and looked out the glassteel window of his tower library. The shadow-fogged air allowed only filtered starlight through its canopy, but Telemont could see well enough. The city of Shade extended before him, the dense jumble of its towers and domes and tiled roofs blanketed in night. It was his city, and he’d fought and schemed for centuries to preserve it and its people, along the way compromising . . . many things.

“Something’s changed, Hadrhune,” he said. “The world shifts under my feet.”

Book Review: ‘The Wyvern’s Spur’ by Kate Novak and Jeff Grubb

It’s interesting how many Star Wars authors have come over from the Realms: Elaine Cunningham, Troy Denning, Paul S. Kemp, Drew Karpyshyn, R.A. Salvatore, Christie Golden. Jeff Grubb is also no exception. Before writing Scourge, he wrote several Forgotten Realms novels with his wife, Kate Novak. The first one was Azure Bonds, a fun fantasy story and part of The Finder’s Stone Trilogy.

The Wyvern’s Spur is the second book in that trilogy, but surprisingly, it has little to do with the previous book and is a great standalone story in itself. Even more surprisingly, it’s a superior book to the first. If you’re looking for a great fantasy story to escape in, this one is well worth checking out. Click here to read our full review.

When most fantasy novels pursue adventures about elves, dragons, and dwarves, Troy Denning isn’t one to be afraid to branch out into new territory. The Giant Among Us is the second novel in a fantasy story that focuses on all things relating to giants and giant kin. It’s set in the Forgotten Realms and packs in some great characters, gripping action scenes, and a story that will pluck, pull, and rip at your emotions. Click here to read our full review.

Author Paul S. Kemp posted a new blurb for his upcoming Forgotten Realms novel The Godborn. The Godborn will be book two in The Sundering series which includes authors like Troy Denning and R.A. Salvatore. If you’re thinking of broadening your reading, this would be a great series to check out.

The shadow legacy of Erevis Cale lives on even as his old foe Mephistopheles seeks to stamp it out at any cost. Cale’s son Vasen—unmoored in time by the god Mask—has thus far been shielded from the archdevil’s dark schemes, alone among the servants of the Lord of Light who have raised him since birth.

Living in a remote abbey nestled among the Thunder Peaks of Sembia, Vasen is haunted by dreams of his father, trapped in the frozen hell of Cania. He knows the day will come when he must assume his role in the divine drama unfolding across Faerûn. But Vasen knows not what that role should be . . . or whether he is ready to take it on. He only knows what his father tells him in dreams—that he must not fail.

Enter Drasek Riven, a former compatriot of Erevis Cale, now near divine and haunted by dreams of his own—he too knows the time to act is near. Shar, the great goddess of darkness, looks to cast her shadow on the world forever. Riven has glimpsed the cycle of night she hopes to complete, and he knows she must be stopped.

At the crossroads of divine intrigue and mortal destiny, unlikely heroes unite to thwart the powers of shadow and hell, and the sundering of worlds is set on its course.

Book Review: ‘The Ogre’s Pact’ by Troy Denning

Star Wars readers can have a voracious appetite for reading, but alas there always comes a point where you run out of books. One of the best things you can do is pick a Star Wars author you like and see what else they written beyond Star Wars. In this case I picked Troy Denning and Troy has written quite a bit outside the Star Wars realm. One of my favorites is The Ogre’s Pact. It’s the first in a trilogy set in the Forgotten Realms. While there are familiar tropes in the story, Troy manages to give each a unique spin while spicing the whole thing up with a heaping helping of giants. Click here to read our full review.
