No word yet on which Star Wars guests will be attending the events, however it’s a safe bet that Timothy Zahn will be in the Washington/Oregon area, Aaron Allston and Drew Karpyshyn in Texas and Troy Denning and John Jackson Miller in Wisconsin since those events are near to where the authors live.

In book news, author Martha Wells has a great article on John Scalzi’s site which discusses the focus of her Books of the Raksura series and how it relates to her own life. If you’re thinking about diving into the series, the article gives a very nice overview of each book without spoiling anything. Martha will also be doing a book signing in Houston, Texas tomorrow from 3-4 PM at Murder by the Book.

Speaking of book signings, Jason Fry will be in Northvale, New Jersey tomorrow from 11-1 PM at Books and Greetings for DK Books.

Matthew Stover mentioned on Facebook that he’s currently working on no less than five novels, but the real question is: are any of them Star Wars? When pressed if he would write the novelization for Episode VII, he said he’d take the job if Disney offers. Now everyone can get their hopes up. Continue Reading Around the Web…

Topping off the headlines this week is Star Wars artist Brian Rood who appeared on his local news station WTOL11. You can watch the clip here. The three minute clip shows off some of Brian’s artwork, as well as a rare behind the scenes look at how he does it. We’re fairly certain the secret to his success is combination of water colors and Ewok’s blood. Yub yub.

Not to be out done, forthcoming Star Wars author Kevin Hearne will be livestreaming a book signing this Sunday at The Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale, Arizona. Kevin will be signing his new book Trapped as well as participating in a Q&A. Fans will have an opportunity to ask their own questions via the livestream, or if you’re in the area, you can ask him in person.

In book news, you can enter for a chance to win a complete, autographed set of Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid Chronicles via Patrick Rothfuss’ Worldbuilders charity. For each $10 donation, you get one entry and all the money goes to a good cause. Other authors involved in the charity include Star Wars author Sean Williams who has donated signed copies of Fatal AllianceThe Force Unleashed II, Metal Fatigue, and The Resurrected Man. However, if you’ve got deep pockets, you can check out the Worldbuilder’s eBay auction for Kevin Hearne’s autographed set (which includes special illustrations by the author) and Sean William’s auction.

The second omnibus of Daniel Abraham‘s Long Price Quartet came out this week. Dan has the full breakdown on his blog with links to both the first and second omnibus. Keep in mind that Daniel Abraham will be one of the writers in the upcoming Rebels series. He and fellow author Ty Franck will be writing the Han Solo novel under the pen name James S.A. Corey. As we understand it, the S.A. stands for Solo’s Awesome.

Meanwhile sci-fi author Kevin J. Anderson has climbed 54 mountains and 400 miles of wilderness trails in his search for Yoda. Unfortunately he was unsuccessful, but he was able to recoup the loss with a trail calendar. While there are no Yoda sightings in the calendar, we’re sure the search for Yoda will continue.

Former Star Wars author Kevin J. Anderson is at Disneyland, and with the recent acquisition of Star Wars by the Mouse, we can only speculate at what sort of inside deals are going on but we’re laying our bets on new ideas for super weapons for Episode VII like The Nostril of Palpatine. Star Wars Books posted a picture of the upcoming paperback version of Conviction, and as they’ve been doing recently, they teased us with some images from The Essential Reader’s Companion in the background.

I’m pretty sure the artwork is some of the character portraits that artist Brian Rood has been doing…or should I say ‘done.’ Continue Reading A Taste of the Reader’s Companion…
