Star Wars Adventures Annual 2018 is different than usual in that it’s not your normal floppy copy. Instead, it sports a trade paperback style binding and cover, yet with the standard 32 page count. That does mean a higher price point, but it is a higher quality format. Plus you get two nice stories.

First off, it’s nice to see John Jackson Miller return to Star Wars. In “Mind Your Manners,” he tells a Luke and Leia story as they deal with the Sarkans in a touchy diplomatic situation. When Leia injures her ankle, it’s up to Luke to pull off the meeting without offending the Sarkans. Luckily he’s got C-3PO to help him. Unluckily, he’s up against the Empire. With some twists and turns and a few laughs, Luke and Leia pull off the mission and deal with the Sarkans. Jon Sommariva and Matt Herms do a great job on the artwork.

Then it’s off into some old Marvel nostalgia as Cavan Scott brings back Jaxxon the rabbit, and Amaiza. Both appeared in the original Star Wars Marvel comic run back in the day, so Marvel fans may get a kick out of seeing these characters return. Another nod to the old Marvel comics, as well as the LEGO Freemaker Adventures, is The Wheel space station. In the story, Jaxxon and Amaiza are sent to get some rare eggs for the Rebellion, but run into the Empire and hijinks ensue. It’s a fun little story and the artwork is pretty good. They certainly bring Jaxxon to life.

While this one does have a higher price than usual, it’s still worth picking up. Both stories are fun and have something different to offer. I give it a five out of five metal bikinis.
