Star Wars #61 sets up the end game as Leia sets her sights on Shu-Torun. However, it won’t be an easy mission as Scar Squadron aren’t quite as helplessly stranded as we were lead to believe. They’ve found the plans to Leia’s revenge scheme so it may just be a matter of time before they escape and complicate everything.

For the most part, though, Star Wars #61 is a stepping stone. Han reunites with the Falcon, Sana gets her ship back and makes some quips about Aphra, Luke loses out on his love connection, and Ackbar fills us in that things have been going bad for the Rebellion. One shinning moment that I did like was Tula turning down Luke, telling him how it is, and leaving. That not only seemed in character for her, but was an intelligent and sensible decision. There’s no way she’s going on a love connection when her father just died and one of the main reasons for it is staring back at her.

So, with the current trajectory, it’s all about Leia’s revenge on Queen Trios. Trios hit the Rebels hard with her betrayal, and now Leia is going to…wipe out her planet? I’m not sure if that’s what they’re really going for, but that does seem kind of harsh for someone who knows exactly how it feels to lose their entire planet.

As for the artwork, it’s good and it’s bad. Some of the panels are really good, and some of the panels are really bad. Some of the Luke panels threw me completely out of the story. That said, I do love the fact that they threw a Herglic in there. Even with the bad artwork, at least the bad takes on the likenesses of some of the characters, it’s still good overall.

Coming off the momentum of Star Wars #60, this one carries it forward and keeps some interest. For that, I give it a four out of five metal bikinis. However, a lot of this story will be riding on how this arc pans out and ends. Right now, that could still go either way.
