Legacy #15 closes out one chapter of the story and opens up a new one as this series continues to thrive with excellent storytelling. Did Ania kill an Imperial Knight? Who is this bounty hunter that is after her? Will Ania be executed when she’s caught? All those questions and more are answered in this issue which ratchets forward with rich artwork, fun characters, nice action and a great story.

Things kick off with AG-37 saving Ania from acid rain on a nameless planet. Meanwhile Jao Assam gets his butt kicked by the masked, light whip wielding bounty hunter. A lengthy fight ensues which takes up much of the comic. It provides lots of action, but also a lot of plot as the bounty hunter’s origins are revealed and Ania’s murder of an Imperial Knight is fully laid out. Unfortunately for Ania, it ends with her being arrested and brought back to Coruscant for trial. Adding on to the bad news, it’s a kangaroo court andĀ Antares Draco continues to play an obnoxious idiot. I won’t spoil how it ends but the conclusion does wrap up everything nicely. Yet the final panel of the issue sets the stage for the next and final chapter of the story. With three more issues to go, this should be a fun way to end things.

Bringing this issue to visual life is artist Gabriel Hardman and colorist Jordan Boyd. They continue to do a great job with the gritty, detailed visuals on every page. Right in the beginning, there’s an awesome shot of AG-37 carrying Ania in the acid rain filling up an entire page. I’m a big fan of AG, so this panel really hit the spot. Yet the panels that follow illustrate their skilled use of coloring and line work to present action. The use of lines in the environment flows with the action, giving direction to movement and creating a dynamic of motion in the otherwise two dimensional page. The colors make the characters pop from the panels with bright backgrounds and the lighting in the explosion shot is perfect. Even the effect of the rain works well, drawing readers into the world the artists are portraying. It is a different style of art with a heavy use of shading, often looking dark and gritty, but I think it works well for the story and, overall, I really like it.

With Ania’s run from the law over with it, I’m looking forward to seeing how this series ends. So far, Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman have done a great job with the series. This arc is one of the best yet and Legacy #15 did an excellent job of wrapping it up. The visuals are appealing and eye-popping, the story is compelling, and all around they capture just the right mix of entertainment. I give Legacy #15 a five out of five metal bikinis.
