Allegiance #2

Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – Allegiance #2

Writer: Ethan Sacks
Artist: Luke Ross
Colorist: Lee Loughridge
Letterer: Clayton Cowles
Cover Artist: Marco Checcetto

Allegiance #2 continues the story as things heat up on Mon Cala and the moon of Avedot. While there’s not a lot of world building in this one, there is a lot of action.

The issue is split between two stories. One follows Leia, Rey, Rose, C-3PO and Chewbacca to Mon Cala where Leia talks to Ackbar’s son, Aftab. Leia then meets with the leaders of Mon Cala and tries to get their support. Elsewhere, everyone else deals with some hostile Quarren who are up to no good. They’re also ratting out the location of the Resistance leaders to General Hux. The other half of the story takes place on a moon where Poe and Finn are trying to find some weapons. They’re also being hunted down by some bounty hunters. Both fights end on cliff hangers. There’s also a brief respite on Fondor where Kylo Ren doles out some First Order justice.

Again, the artwork is really good in this issue. Luke Ross is on a roll with some great panel layouts that just look gorgeous on the page. The colors are also just right to bring out the most of the artwork. It’s some really great visuals.

With a good story and good artwork, Allegiance #2 is another solid issue for this mini-series. I give it a four out of five metal bikinis.
