Arcade 1up Star Wars is Coming!

June 12, 2019 at 2:41 pm | Posted in Star Wars, Video Games | Leave a comment

Arcade 1up unveiled at E3 today their Star Wars arcade cabinet. It will be out in November and includes Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

If you haven’t had a chance to see one of Arcade 1up’s cabinets yet, you might want to check out your local Walmart as they’ve been putting them out on display and some of them you can actually play. I own two and they’re really fun. The 17″ screen is perfect, and while the controls aren’t the best quality, they’re still pretty good. Just make sure you get a deck protector to protect the graphics on your control board as the paint will wear off if you don’t (you’ll notice that on the display models). Arcade 1up does offer free deck protectors if you buy one of the older models that didn’t ship out with one. Anyways, great news hearing they’re making a Star Wars one. I’ll definitely be getting it. They also announced a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade and a Marvel arcade at E3, which is also pretty cool.

Video Game Review: ‘Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey’

January 29, 2019 at 4:55 pm | Posted in Reviews, scifi/fantasy, Video Games | Leave a comment

The Assassin’s Creed games are an interesting lot. On one hand, you get these big open world areas that you can explore with each game diving into a different area of history. In Odyssey, it explores the world of ancient Greece in a time where Sparta and Athens are at war with each other. You can captain a boat and cruise the high seas, wander the forests and hunt deer, climb mountains, explore islands you’ve probably never heard of, and walk the streets of towns that likely no longer exist. On the other hand, Assassin’s Creed is a combat game focused on ridiculous assassination skills. While there is no palm dagger in Odyssey, there is a broken spear with which you can dispatch your opponents with gravity defying acrobatics. Or you can just hack and slash your way to victory. Either way, it’s a game that merges violence and beautiful scenery to create a 3D world you can escape into. The story, however, is another matter.
