Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Blast Points: Episode 64 kicks off with news, some The Last Jedi stuff, scene descriptions, and then they get to what may be the best Star Wars holiday of all, St. Panaka Day! They celebrate Captain Panaka like no other with all of his dialog from The Phantom Menace, rating each line on grumpiness which turns out to be really fun. They talk about the character, and even go into why he wasn’t in Attack of the Clones. Excellent episode.

Blast Points: Episode 65 is Jason and Gabe geeking out on Star Wars Rebels “Twin Suns.” This one is fun from the get go. They talk about how Obi-Wan knows Ezra’s name, the duel, how perfect Obi-Wan is, Luke being the chosen one, and the glimpse of Luke. Great episode.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 111 is hosted by Joe and special guest Tyler Westhause. They talk Star Wars Celebration, Drowning in Moonlight, there’s some movie discussion, some Star Wars Rebels and a bunch of other stuff, including JNCO jeans. Lots of fun as always.

Fauxthentic History: The Lost Culture of Alderaan covers what Alderaan was like, the planet’s geography, landmarks, how their society worked, their culture, wine, architecture, history, Bail and Leia’s roles, and what happened post-destruction. Very informative, they include info from the films and beyond.

Fauxthentic History: The Eugenics War goes over the origin of Khan, the super soldiers, the Chrysalis Project, and different versions of the history. It’s quite an elaborate backstory that I’ve never heard before, which makes me really curious where all these ideas were laid out and explored. I didn’t realize Khan’s history overlaps with our own history. Very enlightening. Note this episode was recorded live at SLCC, but it still has really good audio quality. Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Beltway Banthas: Episode 24 starts with current topics and news, then they discuss the Empire and like the bad guys with guests Andrea Letamendi and Tyler Westhause which leads to a very interesting discussion on what it is about the villains that interests us so much. Good episode.

Blast Points: Episode 63 starts with a little The Last Jedi news ala biohexacrypt, and they go over Star Wars Celebration announcements, guests and the UK’s Star Wars Fun Day with Bor Gullet. Then they go into Aftermath: Empire’s End with full spoilers. There’s an interesting take from Gabe on this one as he only read some of Aftermath and none of Life Debt, catching most of the major plot points via online breakdowns. Jason, on the other hand, read all three. They talk about Palpatine’s Plan B, a possible mention of Captain Phasma which I missed on my read through of the book, the Church of the Force interlude, Chewbacca’s interlude, Lando’s interlude, and going back to Jakku. They don’t spoil the entire book as they mostly touch on the interludes and even then, they don’t go into too much detail, so you could listen to this entire episode and still find lots of surprises in the book. They made a good observation about how having the recognizable film characters in such small roles, and the new characters in such large roles, can actually be a negative when the film characters are the more interesting ones. Overall, fantastic episode. Both informative and entertaining.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 110 kicks off with Blue Russians as they talk about Conty’s toy find, Twinkie ice cream, Mandalorian windows, the Auralnauts R2 video, Jedi cologne, Oppo molting, listener feedback, some need’em got’em, and more. Fun as always, but I think the Blue Russians and Oppo’s molting makes this one special. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Blast Points: Episode 61 starts with a little news on The Last Jedi, the newly announced Star Wars spoof film, and then they go into the Star Wars read along books for the original trilogy. Great episode as always as they continual explore interesting areas of the Star Wars franchise with lots of fun commentary and analysis.

Blast Points: Episode 62 starts with the news, then they talk about the original auditions for A New Hope and the audition tapes. They go over who tried out for what parts, comment on their auditions from the tapes, and they play audio clips so you can hear Harrison Ford reading for Han Solo with various other actors playing Luke or Leia, or you can hear some of the actors who read for Han including Kurt Russell. Very cool episode.

Bombad Radio: Episode 271 debuts a new co-host, Kaela, and they interview voice actors Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt. They talk Ben 10, Young Justice and voicing Rogue One. Good episode. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

They cover Valentine’s Day gifts, John Williams concert, E.T., Celebration, the new R2-D2 actor, meeting Hondo, they dive into Star Wars Rebels, Tia on Sabine, the Bendu, they touch a little on Empire’s End without going into it so no spoilers yet, they cover Han Solo news, need’em got’em, toy news, Yaddle and Galactic Empire’s new album with some audio clips. Jam packed episode with goodness from beginning to end.

Drunken Rebels Podcast: Episode 9 starts with a moment of silence for Carrie Fisher, then they get into a broad yet cohesive discussion on a variety of topics. From the blizzard in New York to who is the last Jedi, it’s a random but continuous conversation. Different, but I like it. Worth a listen for lots of fun Star Wars discussion.
