Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

501stCast: Episode 105 is hosted by Nicky, Joe and Marcus as they highlight a documentary on the UK Garrison, watch The Last Jedi trailer together and share their initial reactions, cover the new 501st costumes, and then head into troop reports. There’s even a dedicated segment for the Alaskan Garrison. Plus there’s a little bonus audio drama with Joe, Alan Flyng and Derek Lyons called “Enterprising Executor.” If you’d like to get an idea of what the 501st Legion does, this is a great podcast to check out as their troop reports cover all the charity events they participate in and help raise money for. There’s usually some pretty touching stories.

Podcast Network: N/A, Runtime: 1 hour 2 minutes, Rating: Good

BlastCast: Thoughts on the MNF The Last Jedi Trailer includes highlights and some interesting thoughts on the trailer, porgs, kyber foxes and the Kylo/Leia moment.

Podcast Network: Hyperspace PodBlastRuntime: 24 minutes, Rating: Good

Brews and Blasters: Episode 139 features Joe and Chris as they start off with Bob’s Burgers. Then they talk about getting tickets for The Last Jedi, watching the trailer, and the theater they plan on seeing it at. They also talk about Batista and Blade Runner 2049 (spoiler free, high recommendations from both), Topps cards, they dive more into The Last Jedi trailer with their thoughts on it, but not a shot-by-shot breakdown as they might save that for later. Fun episode as always.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review. There’s some pre and post-trailer release episodes in here.

Blast Points: Episode 94 dives into The Last Jedi trailer. Gabe and Jason keep it fun as always. From the AT-AT farm and Kylo’s space band-aid, to Phasma’s toothpick and the Rey vs Snoke showdown. They speculate on whether the Kylo/Rey scene is a fake out, the lack of Hux, and more. If you’re hunting down trailer discussions, this one is definitely worth putting on the playlist.

Podcast Network: N/A, Runtime: 55 minutes, Rating: Great

Bombad Radio: Episode 288 kicks off with a discussion of the book Star Wars Made Easy. They talk a little about Inhumans, and then they get into their main discussion which is their recommended movie and television show picks for streaming services Amazon Prime and Netflix. If you have either service, and you’re looking for some recommendations on what to watch, this episode is worth a listen. Afterwards the fire up the porgs and top things off with a porg song. While the porg count has been retired, there are a lot of porgs in this episode.

Podcast Network: Bombad RadioRuntime: 1 hour 30 minutes, Rating: Okay

Brews and Blasters: Episode 137 opens with Chinese food, magic potions and beefcake tomatoes. They have a non-spoiler discussion of It, talk about Harrison Ford punching Ryan Gosling in the face, the Toys R Us bankruptcy, they discuss the upcoming trailer drop for The Last Jedi (this was recorded pre-trailer release), and there’s even some audio from their first episode. Beltway Banthas: Episode 40 covers Abrams directing Episode IX, they get into some current affairs with the similarities between Roger Stone and Palpatine, they talk Russia, and for their main discussion, they speak with Star Wars author Chuck Wendig. That discussion leads to politics, Star Wars, the Aftermath trilogy, a few spoilers, his ideas for Mon Mothma and her decisions, and how The Force Awakens has shown some things that are currently going on in the world. Afterwards the interview they talk a little about The Night Of and Kubo and the Two Strings. For those who have read the Aftermath trilogy, this one is definitely worth a listen. I really enjoyed the interview with Wendig.

Podcast Network: Retrozap, Runtime: 52 minutes, Rating: Good

Blast Points: Episode 93 starts with news as they talk about The Last Jedi wrapping, Ron Howard tweets, runtime for The Last Jedi, and new Forces of Destiny trailer. Podcast Network: N/A, Runtime: 56 minutes, Rating: Good

Bright Tree Radio: Thought Bombs with Mike Moriarty is hosted by Sophie and Phil and features special guest Mike Moriarty (Home One Hangout) as they drop some thought bombs on him. They talk about whether Qui Gon was the best example of a Jedi, whether Anakin was a good example of a Jedi before his fall, does Star Wars need an enemy like the Yuuzhan Vong, does Snoke fill that role, and whether we will we see Chiss. Nice episode with a lot of fun discussion. Note this was my first time checking them out and I was impressed. Good hosts, good audio quality and an interesting guest.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Beltway Banthas: Interview: Vince Houghton of the International Spy Museum is, as the title implies, an interview with Vince Houghton who is a curator and historian and the International Spy Museum. The interview is done by John Liang, so it doesn’t feature the usual hosts of Beltway Banthas, but this interview, which is more of a conversation, is pretty good as Vince also does a regular event talking about Star Wars spy craft which becomes the main subject of this episode. Vince talks about the spy museum, spies in Star Wars, flaws in Imperial intelligence operations, geospatial analysis in Star Wars, and also just his general thoughts on Star Wars and Disney. Very fun conversation.
Porg Count: 0 (Porg Free), Runtime: 47 minutes, Rating: Great episode

Blabba the Hutt: 40 Years of Star Wars – Live From Dublin Comic Con 2017 is the audio from their panel. They talk about a variety of topics from what made Star Wars great in the beginning to what will happen to Kylo Ren. They keep the conversation going for most of the episode and toward the end it turns over to a trivia contest for swag with the audience, but there is a lot of good discussion in the panel overall and it’s good audio quality so definitely worth a listen.
Porg Count: 1, Runtime: 1 hour 5 minutes, Rating: Good episode

Blast Points: Episode IG-88 starts off with news as they talk about Michael K. Williams being cut from the Han Solo film, the new warship and walker for The Last Jedi, and the rumored working title for the Kenobi movie. Then they get to the good stuff. The really good stuff. They talk about his first appearance, his return in the Droids cartoon, his presence in the Shadows of the Empire video game, the IG droids in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Forces of Destiny and his colorful Legends backstory. For IG-88 fans, this one is a must listen.
