Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 108 starts with Richard Grieco and works it’s way to Star Wars as they get the party started. They cover Valentine’s Day gifts, John Williams concert, E.T., Celebration, the new R2-D2 actor, meeting Hondo, they dive into Star Wars Rebels, Tia on Sabine, the Bendu, they touch a little on Empire’s End without going into it so no spoilers yet, they cover Han Solo news, need’em got’em, toy news, Yaddle and Galactic Empire’s new album with some audio clips. Jam packed episode with goodness from beginning to end.

Drunken Rebels Podcast: Episode 9 starts with a moment of silence for Carrie Fisher, then they get into a broad yet cohesive discussion on a variety of topics. From the blizzard in New York to who is the last Jedi, it’s a random but continuous conversation. Different, but I like it. Worth a listen for lots of fun Star Wars discussion.

Fangirls Going Rogue: Episode 41 is hosted by just Tricia and Sarah as they go through the news, Her Universe’s return, The Last Jedi, Red Cup, new actress in Han Solo movie, actress who wants to be Ahsoka, and they talk Star Wars Rebels. They have on guest Verona Blue who talks about her work as a voice actor and actor, and her parts in The Force Awakens and Rogue One. Fun interview. Afterwards they have a character discussion on Baze and Chirrut. Great episode. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Aggressive Negotiations: Issue 52 covers Rey and Jyn as they talk about the two characters, their importance, how they’re similar and how they’re different.

Blast Points: Episode 59 first touches on the news with Lando, whether Snoke could be the last Jedi, Wedge in Rogue One, and then they get to the really good stuff. The main discussion of this episode is the 1977 album Living in These Star Warz. They go through the album track-by-memorable-track and this thing is golden. There’s songs about Vader and his respirator, Chewie being a rookie Wookiee and even falling in love with a droid. It’s cheesy, it’s weird, and it’s amazing. This episode is my pick of the week.

Blast Points: Episode 60 starts with news and recent happenings as usual including some info on the upcoming Star Wars Rebels episodes. Then they get into the Valentine’s Day spirit with their favorite romantic lines and smooth talking from Anakin. Very fun episode. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Classic Marvel Star Wars Comics: Episode 12 starts out with Randy Martinez talking about Star Wars Celebration, then they review Marvel Star Wars #12. Randy clarifies the roles of an inker and penciller, they talk about Luke and his red lightsaber, the visuals and dialog that stands out for better or worse, and they try and draw some Rogue One connections. 501stCast: Episode 100 celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Legion. They reach back into their archives to play a little of the opening for their first podcast episode, recount that in 2003 they had 3,000 costumes and now they’re over 10,000. They go over the news of the Episode VIII title The Last Jedi, the latest news on the Lucas museum, and they go over mission reports with some excellent examples of the good they do. Plus Dr. Evazan promotes the 501st Bash for Star Wars Celebration Orlando. Good episode.

Blast Points: Episode 57 kicks off with some news discussion. They cover Woody Harrelson on his Garris Shrike comment, Episode VIII costumes, and some highlights on the Rogue One secrets on The Star Wars Show. Their main topic is the Whills. They talk about everything we’ve been told about them, and the speculate on the connections from convories to the first Jedi Temple. Plus they get into listener emails. Good episode.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Awards Chatter: Viggo Mortensen interview is a good one. Viggo talks about his parents, his childhood, being born in Manhattan but raised in Argentina, returning to America, the influence of his mother’s love in movies, how he eventually got into acting, his early roles and missed opportunities like Platoon, and of course filming Lord of the Rings. They also cover his latest film Captain Fantastic. Great interview and one you don’t want to miss.

Awards Chatter: Ryan Reynolds interview is pretty neat as it details the long journey that eventually led to the Deadpool movie. He talks about going from Canada and kid’s soap operas to Hollywood and films. I had no idea how deeply invested Ryan was in the idea of a Deadpool movie, nor did I realize that he wrote the script and had shopped it around for years in trying to get the film made. If you’re a Deadpool fan, you’ll definitely want to check this one out. And even if you’re not, Ryan talks about the various films he’s worked on, going from smaller films to big films, and what happened with Green Lantern.

Beltway Banthas: Episode 21 dives into politics with cabinet news, Mark Hamill reading Trump quotes in Joker voice, and they’re joined by guest Dennis Keithly from Starships Sabers and Scoundrels as they discuss the Separatists. The audio is a little tinny in this episode but the discussion on the Separatists is pretty good. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

He touches on films like Swingers, Dodgeball, The Break Up, his latest movie Hacksaw Ridge and the tv series True Detective.

Blast Points: Episode 56 starts out with Donnie Yen playing the piano for a Rogue One music video, then they cover Episode VIII news, Disney’s Galactic Nights, and then head into their main discussion which covers their favorite 90’s Star Wars toy commercials. It’s a blast from the past and a fun one. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Beltway Banthas: Episode 19 begins with guest Joseph Tavano as they talk about how Retrozap started, white supremacists boycotting Rogue One, Bob Iger joining an advisory committee for Donald Trump, Adam Driver’s comments on Kylo Ren being a terrorist, and comparing the First Order to real world entities. Then they talk with guest Brittany Hunter about the factions of the Rebellion in Rogue One as they look at American history with the likes of John Adams and Samuel Adams. Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review. Lots of Rogue One discussion episodes, some better than others.

Assembly of Geeks: Rogue One Reviews starts with some discussion on Gotham City Sirens and a Deadshot movie, then they move into their reviews of Rogue One with guest Dan Zehr (Coffee With Kenobi). While there’s no love for Bor Gullet or Saw, they do discuss the things they liked as well as the things they didn’t like, what they wanted, the CGI, possible plot holes and ranking it.

Bantha Fodder: Episode 15 is a Christmas special as they do their own version of “Twas A Night Before Christmas” but Rogue One themed. Worth a listen.

Bombad Radio: Episode 264 features James, Jeremiah, Jason and author Adam Bray as they talk Rogue One including expectations, the things they liked, disliked and listener feedback. Good episode. Note there’s more listener reviews at the end of the episode so when the main discussion ends and you hear someone else speaking, that’s what’s going on. It threw me off guard at first as I though maybe a different podcast had started playing, but it’s just a listener review. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…
