It’s Better to Die Twice

October 12, 2012 at 12:09 pm | Posted in Opinion, The Clone Wars | 2 Comments

The Clone Wars has brought a lot of discussion to the Star Wars community. Part of that debate has been the deaths of characters like Even Piell and Adi Gallia. Both of these characters have had canon deaths elsewhere in the Expanded Universe, however The Clone Wars has decided to re-envision those events. The question is whether these new deaths have provided better storytelling, one that’s worth the cost of continuity? Continue Reading It’s Better to Die Twice…

50 Unfounded Reasons Why Adi Died

October 5, 2012 at 5:42 pm | Posted in Humor, Opinion, Television, The Clone Wars | 2 Comments

Adi Gallia died because…

  1. They wanted to do a Wilhelm scream.
  2. Leland Chee lost in a poker game with George, so George got to kill off another character.
  3. The voice actress, Angelique Perrin, wore a red shirt to the studio, and per TCW custom, her character had to die.
  4. She had the fewest dialog lines in the episode.
  5. Angelique told Clancy Brown ‘there can be two.’ The Kurgon promptly informed Dave ‘there can be only one!’
  6. George was confused by there being two Gallia’s, so one had to go.
  7. Chewbacca was not available.
  8. Opress thought she was a pinata full of tiny toy Jawas.
  9. Like Even Piell, she was born on the planet Cat where everyone has nine lives. She and Even Piell will get to die 8 more times.
  10. The ten episode story arc of The Tragedy of Adi the Wise was considered ‘too ambitious’ and costly. The novelization will still be covered by Paul S. Kemp. Continue Reading 50 Unfounded Reasons Why Adi Died…

Ewok Fantasies: Book Bundling

It’s time for another journey into Ewok Fantasies, this time down the road of the publishing industry. Right now bundling is still a popular fad among utility companies. Many households save money by taking advantage of bundling services to save money or for just added convenience. You can get your phone, internet and satellite/cable all bundled together for one low, monthly price. But what would happen if the publishing industry bundled eBooks and print books together? Conspiracy Report: Begun The Junk Wars Have

Once again we’ve sent out our Kubaz spies to scour the galaxy for breaking news and tantalizing rumors (Bothan spies are overrated anyways). This week they’ve come back with some startling information on Paul S. Kemp’s secretive Star Wars duology.

Sometime next year we’ll get to see the first book in Paul S. Kemp’s yet-to-be-revealed Star Wars duology. We don’t know much about Paul’s two books yet…or do we? In an interview with Civilian Reader, Kemp mentioned that the duology will be hardcover. Del Rey Editor Frank Parisi described it as “a very ambitious project.” We know we’ll get a Big 3 novel from Denning next year in the form of Crucible. We’ll also be getting Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void by Tim Lebbon, and The Last Jedi by Michael Reaves and Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff.

We’ve spent many hours extrapolating the known data and meditating on the fumes of old Star Wars novels in order to ascertain what it could all mean. Our conclusion is this: Paul S. Kemp’s duology will be a story about Squibs. Continue Reading Conspiracy Report: Begun The Junk Wars Have…

Ewok Fantasies: Streen ‘o Streen, Where Have You Been?

June 22, 2012 at 4:47 pm | Posted in Ewok Fantasies, Opinion, Star Wars Books | 2 Comments

This week Ewok Fantasies takes a look at one of my own delusional fan fantasies: a Streen series. With the new focus on standalones, duologies, and trilogies, it’s a perfect time to break out good old Streen. Recent books have certainly taken the time to spotlight certain underutilized characters. Fans received a Dash Rendar novel in the way of Shadow Games. Paul S. Kemp has given us no less than two Jaden Korr novels with Crosscurrent and Riptide. Plus Del Rey has shown that the past is still fair game with novels like Scourge and Mercy Kill (which has several flashback chapters). So why not carry the trend forward for Streen? Balance to the Force

June 7, 2012 at 10:27 am | Posted in Opinion | 1 Comment

One discussion that often pops up in Star Wars is the ‘Balance of the Force’ debate. Anakin Skywalker was declared the Chosen One, and it was foretold that the chosen one would bring balance to the Force. But what does balance mean? Continue Reading Balance to the Force…

Union: A Cast of Its Own

Out of all the Star Wars comics that have been done, Union stands out amongst the crowd. On one hand, it was written by Michael A. Stackpole and covers something we don’t see too much of in Star Wars: weddings. On the other hand, it also featured an all star cast. Mara, Luke, Wedge, Corran…no, not those stars. We’re talking about the real life celebrities who show up as Star Wars characters.

Where’s the Happy Ending?

One of the most important parts of any story is the ending. Will it be a happy ending? A sad ending? Will the director/author/creator pull off a good one or bad one? It’s the last moment the fans get to experience and it can potentially ruin the entire work. A lot rides on the ending. Continue Reading Where’s the Happy Ending?…

As Star Wars fans, we all have our own delusional fantasies about Star Wars. Mine typically involve Ewoks. Starting this week I’m launching a new column entitled Ewok Fantasies that will take a closer look at crazy ideas from Star Wars fandom. To kick things off, I’m going to look at at the officer material of the Sith and their outstanding qualities as commanders. Continue Reading Ewok Fantasies: Saluting Sith Sinks Ships…

Conspiracy Report: Star Wars 1313

A new mystery is circling the web. Lucasfilm has begun registering domains under the guise “starwars1313.” What could it mean? A Star Wars historical crossover in the year 1313 AD? The marriage of the Dark Sith Underlord to his Gungan mistress in 1313 BBY? Some think it has to do with Boba Fett and the alias CT-1313 he used. Here on Roqoo Depot, we think it means Star Wars 1-3-13 as in January 1, 2013. What could be so big? We’re laying our bets on Return of the Ewok in 3D!

Or maybe Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones in 3D. We admit, it’s a toss up.

Posted By: Skuldren for Roqoo Depot. Inside everyone one of us is a little Ewok waiting to get out.
