They tackle the ideas of originality and imitation, working in genre, bringing in originality, and playing with language. They talk about his films Brick, a little bit of Looper and they touch on The Last Jedi just a little (not much at really), and they wrap the episode up with a little cereal talk. There’s some F-bombs, so fair warning. It’s an interesting conversation.

What The Force?: Power of Myth & Symbolism: Shadow features guest Ty Black as they talk about shadows (ie. baggage), Joseph Campbell and George Lucas, the shadow as the pull to the dark side, Bly, Yoda and Star Wars: The Clone Wars season six episodes when he fights his shadow, the need to accept the shadow rather than rejecting or destroying it, boys and girls and their shadows, and they dig into the psychology of it, projection and dream analysis, and they apply the ideas to Kylo Ren, Anakin, Rey, they go into a story that explores the ideas, and they extrapolate from there on other topics. It’s a rather lengthy discussion, but it’s some interesting stuff.

He talks about the immersive factor, blue milk, the animatronics, the food, the Falcon ride, the cast members, Vi Moradi, and more. It’s a good discussion, but the audio quality is a bit spotty with some of the background noise. Still worth a listen.
