Here is this week’s Around the Web news roundup of Star Wars and beyond.

Book News

  • StarWars.com has an excerpt from Claudia Gray’s upcoming novel Master and Apprentice.
  • IGN announced a new book The Art of Star Wars Rebels. Interestingly enough, it’s a Dark Horse/Lucasfilm project which will include commentary from Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg and Carrie Beck and will be written by Dan Wallace, which sounds like a solid plan for success. It’ll be out this October and pre-orders are already available.

Comic News

  • Fans have been wondering if there’s any chance of them going back to Legends to tell more stories. Well, Marvel is taking the plunge, though they’re going old school and doing a Marvel Star Wars #108 one-shot that continues the old Marvel Star Wars comics line, be it only with one issue. Hopefully this trend will continue and one day we’ll get some new Legends novels with the old characters we fell in love with and got invested in. Plus more Celebration guests have been announced.

Convention & Event News

Pre-orders are up for the already announced guests who will be doing photo ops and autographs. However, with more names to be announced, you may want to wait before spending all your money. There’s a lot of things to do at Celebration, and they’ve got a list of all the fan organizations and clubs now. These are worth taking note of as they’ll do special events which can be really fun to check out.

  • Pensacon is February 22 to 24 in Pensacola, FL. Star Wars guests include Julian Glover, Claudia Gray, Taylor Gray, Bill Hargreaves, Alan Harris, Guy Henry, Cathy Munroe, Clive Revill, Felix Silla, Jim Swearingen, and Timothy Zahn.
  • Classic Plastics Toy & Comic Expo is March 2 to 3 in Parkersburg, WV. Star Wars guests include Timothy Zahn.
  • MidSouthCon 37 is March 15 to 17 in Memphis, TN. Star Wars guests include Timothy Zahn.
  • FantaSci is March 22 to 24 in Raleigh, NC. Star Wars guests include John Jackson Miller, and Timothy Zahn.
  • Star Wars Celebration 2019 is April 11 to 15 in Chicago, IL. Star Wars authors who will be in attendance include Jeffrey Brown, Katie Cook, Zoraida Cordova, Delilah S. Dawson, Alexander Freed, Claudia Gray, Justina Ireland, E.K. Johnston, Cavan Scott and Timothy Zahn.
  • ConGlomeration is April 19 to 21 in Louisville, KY. Star Wars guests include Timothy Zahn.
  • D23 is August 23 to 25 in Anaheim, CA.
  • Disney’s Star Wars Day at Sea will be returning in 2020.

Fandom News

  • Here’s the latest episode of The Star Wars Show.

  • How accurate are Stormtroopers? The Star Wars Kids channel has some fun with it.

  • How about hyperspace jumps?

  • Here’s the latest episode of Bucket’s List.

  • And Star Wars Resistance Rewind.

Movie & Television News

  • If you like visiting Star Wars locations, you’re ability to visit Corellia will be hindered by the fact that they’re demolishing it. Fawley Power Station will be going away so times ticking if you want to visit it.
  • If you’ve been following the news, Alan Tudyk was interviewed by comicbook.com and he did mention knowing what they’re doing for the Cassian Andor series. It’s not a confirmation that K2-SO will be in it, but it’s interesting and we can all keep our fingers crossed.
  • Star Wars Resistance fans should check out Geeky Bubble Episode 122 which features an interview with voice actress Myrna Velasco who voices Torra Doza on the show. It’s a good interview and adds some insight to the character and the show.
  • If you haven’t dug into the latest Benioff and Weiss news, Uproxx is reporting that they were offered three Star Wars movies. So far the official word is that they were offered multiple films, so this narrows it down a bit.
  • Beyond Star Wars, there’s some new movie trailers out. Ma looks really dark and twisted if that’s your thing. It’ll be out in May.

  • They’re making a movie about Tolkien which will be out in May.

  • If you like spook movies, this one looks good. The Curse of La Llorona will be out April 19th.

  • I’m not sure about this one, but the supernatural element is interesting. Stray will be out March 1st.

  • And they’re making a new Child’s Play movie. This one is a reboot. It’ll be out in June.

Toy & Collectible News

  • Hasbro’s 6″ Black Series wave 20 is starting to hit sites for pre-order.
  • Diamond Select Toys has bought some of the assets of Gentle Giant. For Star Wars collectors, this means DST will be manufacturing and distributing the items. You can check out the official announcement here. They do go into the Gentle Giant Premier Guild which will be of great interest to those members.
  • StarWars.com has pictures of the next batch of Galaxy of Adventures figures.
