Rebel Force Radio: Episode 6.22.18 starts with some discussion on Star Wars titles, then they talk with guest John Marcoux who gets into some really interesting stuff. First, he talk about the Greek mythology connections with Solo and how Han’s story is similar to Prometheus. He also points out just how optimistic Han is in this film. They he goes over the love story in Solo, but it’s not about Han and Qi’ra or Han and Chewbacca, but Han and the Millennium Falcon. He points out the familiar story telling points used in romance stories and how Solo includes them. Then he goes into western mythology and the western elements in the movie. They also go over the foreshadowing elements in the movie, build up and expectations. Great, insightful discussion. I highly recommend checking this discussion out. If you’re one of those people out there who don’t like listening to Rebel Force Radio, hearing John’s discussion segment is worth making the exception for. John’s thoughts on Star Wars open up some thought provoking areas many overlook. Afterwards Jimmy and Jason go over the news, Collider spinoff rumors, other reports, ABC’s counter report, and how Solo may have just been too much too soon. They also go over Billy Dee rumors and continue the discussion of social media harassment.

The Empire Film Podcast: Episode 318 is hosted by Helen O’Hara and James Dyer as they talk about The Last Jedi remake people on Twitter, rumored front runners for the Black Widow movie, the change up in show runners for Star Trek Discovery, other movie news and Disney news. At 30 minutes in, Ian interviews actor Benicio Del Toro about his new movie Sicario 2, and his past work with the Bond franchise, Star Wars, and his thoughts on film work versus TV work. It’s a relatively short interview coming in around 15 minutes in length. Afterwards there is a segment by Chris, and then Helen and James close out the show with some more movie discussion. It’s rather choppy with the segment switches, and the movie discussion is okay. The interview with Benicio is the highlight so you’re best off just jumping to that part of the podcast and stopping afterwards. And FYI if you’re listening with kids, the hosts drop some f-bombs (none in the interview section).
