Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Beltway Banthas: Interview: Dan Wallace of The Rebel Files kicks off with a little Star Wars Rebels discussion, then 14 minutes in, they hand it over to John Liang who interviews Star Wars author Dan Wallace. Dan talks about reading the scripts for Rogue One and The Last Jedi before the films came out, working with the storygroup, tackling the book and the various characters, his thoughts on the Rebel Alliance, New Republic and the Rebel leaders, the politics of the Rebel Alliance, and the extras included in the deluxe edition of The Rebel Files. Great interview.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 158 has Chris beating Joe to the Star Wars party yet again! Joe plays with his Panda Baba figure, they talk about the different versions of The Last Jedi home release, then they get into Star Wars Rebels. Specifically, they cover “Wolves and a Door” and “World Between Worlds” and they make some spot on predictions for the finale. They also go over the new Solo books and comics that are coming out, and they do some need’em got’em featuring the Black Series Captain Rex. Plus there’s listener feedback. Fun episode.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 159 tries out some new music, heads into a burger discussion, then they dive into the Star Wars Rebels finale. They talk about Ryder’s betrayal, Hondo, the wolf battle, the royal guards, Thrawn’s end, the epilogue ending, Rex, and what could be done with the Unknown Regions. Another fun episode.

Comic Book Noob: I Kill Giants discusses the graphic novel which is getting a movie release. They’re very careful to avoid spoilers on this one, which means it’s kind of hard to figure out just what this comic is about. They talk about the way the comic was released, the way the story is presented, the main character, and the accolades the comic earned. While I still don’t know what the story is about, they did convince me to go buy a copy of the graphic novel, so I’ll soon find out.

Comics With Kenobi: Episode 50 touches on Marvel Star Wars comic news, then they review Doctor Aphra #17. Plus there’s a little spoiler-free Black Panther discussion at the end.

This discussion gets a bit technical as they delve into the stats and play styles for the game, so if you’re not familiar with the game, this episode may not be for you.

Rebel Force Radio: Star Wars Rebels: Declassified: The Final Four Episodes features Jimmy, Jason, Kyle Newman, and Paul Bateman. They start off discussion Fanboys merchandise that never happened, then they switch gears and dive into Star Wars Rebels. They share their thoughts on the show as a whole, the legacy of Rebels, the finale, liberating Lothal, Palpatine and mysticism, Mortis, the Jedi Temple on Lothal, Ahsoka, Thrawn and more. There’s some minor mic noise and they lose Kyle at one point, but it’s an okay discussion.

San Diego Sabers Radio Podcast: Episode 60 talks about the basic categories of sword fighters. They break it down into the flailer, the fighter and the duelist and how that breaks down into experience and techniques. At the end, they talk a little about Form Zero. Interesting discussion.

Afterwards Caitlin and Charlotte discuss fan fic and fan videos.

Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 204 covers news, then they talk with guest Mark Marshall who talks about his work for Bantha Tracks, cast and crew interviews for The Empire Strikes Back, working on Raiders of the Lost Ark, Goonies, the historical documentary he did, and lots of stories in between. After the credits there’s some bonus discussion, too. Mark’s audio is pretty good, though not excellent. Still fun episode to listen to.

They talk about the Lucasfilm screening, cosplaying the characters, and they delve into the final episodes of the show. Afterwards they talk with Eliza who kept the secret about Chopper. Nice discussion.

Afterwards they jump back to a segment from an older episode that featured their review of the novel Ready Player One. It’s a two hour discussion, so it takes up most of the episode, and this episode runs longer than usual. They delve into spoilers, so if you haven’t read the book yet and you plan on doing so, you might want to skip it.

The ForceCast: March 9th – Taylor Gray Returns is hosted by Ryan and special guest host Charlotte from Skytalkers. Now if you are just tuning in for their interview with Taylor Gray, that starts at 6 minutes. They talk with Taylor about Freddy not being at the final recording sessions, Dave working on the lines, what he did and didn’t know with the epilogue ending, the pergils, and his plans to cosplay Ezra. It’s a good interview and definitely worth checking out. Afterwards Ryan and Charlotte talk about the Jon Favreau Star Wars news and concerns over the lack of diversity with Star Wars creators. That eats up most of the episode, but they do cap off with Charlotte’s Star Wars favorites as they delve into her Star Wars fandom. Depending how invested you are with the topic of diversity with the creators of Star Wars, you may or may not want to tune out after the Taylor Gray interview.

Good discussion for collectors. There’s also some listener feedback. Lot of fun.
