Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Blast Points Podcast: Episode 112 covers some news, touching on some of the details for the upcoming Blu-ray release of The Last Jedi, and J.J. Abrams’ appearance on Colbert. Afterwards, they get to their main topic – Marcia Lucas. They cover how she got started in editing, how she met George Lucas, how they got married, her work on THX1138, American Graffiti, Star Wars, the things she was responsible for, their adoption of Amanda, and their separation. They talk about how important she was in regards to Star Wars, how she may have been the secret ingredient for the original trilogy, and how her absence may have affected the prequels. Plus there’s a couple audio clips. Great stuff. Definitely one you’ll want to listen to.

They also discussion Star Wars Rebels, and fair warning, they kick it off with the big spoilers and no warning, so listen at your own risk if you’ve somehow avoided spoilers and haven’t seen “Jedi Night” yet. Fun episode.

DorkLair: Episode 27 features Bill and Chris Marino as they cover Toy Fair news, the Hasbro sail barge, the figures, and they review the S. H. Figuarts Scout Trooper and bike. They go over the cost and scarcity, give a detailed review of the bike and the figure, and compare it to the Hasbro version.

Fly Casual: Episode 169 skips the usual comic reviews as Garrick instead gives his top 6 takeaway from the latest Star Wars comics. Afterwards they bring up The Last Jedi novelization including Han’s funeral, and they get side tracked into a lengthy rant on Rian Johnson continuing to explain parts of The Last Jedi, and then a rant on The Last Jedi and Rian Johnson in general, and eventually they wrap up with a little bit of Solo as they briefly talk about the planets that will be in the movie.

Full of Sith: Episode CCLVII kicks off with Tom Spina as they talk with him about his latest designs and offerings including a new Emperor’s chair, new director’s chairs, and new tables. Plus they discuss some other stuff. Afterwards Brian has an interview with ILM special effects cinematographer Richard Edlund. The phone audio is a bit rough in spots, but it’s still listenable. Richard talks about how they did the opening shot of Star Wars, some of the tricks for The Empire Strikes Back and some of his thoughts on Rogue One.

Afterwards the ponder what will happen if Solo is a smashing success. Plus there’s listener questions on the Zillo beast, Star Wars food, music and Star Wars sports.

They talk about George’s Star Wars, and they speculate on what George would have done differently. Plus there’s listener questions.

They cover “Jedi Night” and “DUME” as they share their thoughts on the episodes and Johnamarie talks about the Lucasfilm screening she went to and the Q&A she hosted at the event. Plus there’s listener feedback.

The Geek Supreme: Evil Yoda’s Toy Story Adventures includes toy pitch ideas, Disney’s toy story attraction, Toy Fair reveals, their favorite and least favorite toys, and more. As you can see, this episode had a nice toy theme going for it. If you haven’t checked out The Geek Supreme, it’s a unique podcast that has a game show format, but still includes discussions of current event topics in geekdom. It keeps the discussions fun and the hosts for the show are great.

Good discussion. They keep it fun.
