Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Blast Points: Episode 83 starts with news as they talk about Han Solo pics, the underwater X-wing, the prop display at San Diego Comic Con, other SDCC news, then they roll dice to pick which Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes they’ll discuss, which turns out to be season four’s “Kidnapped” and season five’s “Test of Strength.” Good episode.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 125 is their commentary on the Droids cartoon tv movie “The Great Heep.”

Brews and Blasters: Episode 127 starts with their Shark Tank pitch for the Oppo lifestyle. They they talk Grieco, Black Series figures, Force Friday planning, iTunes reviews and listener feedback. Good episode.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 128 starts with food discussion, Mac & Cheese doughnuts, kayaking, Chris’ new addition to his collection, and then they get into The Last Jedi behind-the-scenes trailer, the new Battlefront II trailer, Ron Howard and more. Good episode with some fun discussion.

Comic Book Noob: Valerian & Laureline covers the two main characters of the newly released film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Worlds. They talk about the French comics that the movie is based on, where to find them, what they’re about, the characters, their relationship and the City of a Thousand Planets. Good episode and a good primer for the movie.

Disney Vault Talk: D23 with Riley Blanton features Steve and Teresa as they talk with Riley about his experience at D23, what he saw, how it compared to Star Wars Celebration, what the panels were like, as well as non-Star Wars stuff like Mary Poppins, Aladdin, Dumbo, The Lion King and Avengers. Afterwards, Steve and Teresa continue the discussion as they talk Galaxy of Stories, Disney Legends, Wreck It Ralph 2, Tron ride, resorts, and theme parks. It’s a long episode but a good one.

Fly Casual: Episode 142 starts with fidget spinners and M&M’s, then they get into reviews for Rogue One #3, Darth Vader #1 and Star Wars #32 (very colorful review). Then it’s rumors as they talk about The Last Jedi sports drinks, Praetorian guards, Space Punch, new stormtrooper officer, new walker, Mark Hamill comments, Rey’s lightsaber and concept art. Fun episode.

Fly Casual: Episode 146 begins with Hot & Spicy Chex Mix, drugs, ice dragons, milk and more as they kicks things off with some random humor. They they get into reviews as they dive into Rogue One #4, Star Wars #33, Darth Vader #3, and Doctor Aphra #9. They also discuss the Forces of Destiny episode, they do some bad Padme impersonations which is pretty funny, and they discuss Han Solo set pics, The Last Jedi Force power rumors and more. Lots of humor in this one.

ForceCenter: Episode 72 covers D23. They talk about Star Wars land, teaser posters and the behind-the-scenes trailer. Good episode.

ForceCenter: Episode 73 focuses on Forces of Destiny. They talk about each of the episodes which yields a great, positive discussion on the show. They even share their thoughts on where future episodes could go. Afterwards they tackle listener questions. Great episode.

Full of Sith: Episode CCXXVI features an interview with Forces of Destiny Supervising Director Brad Rau. He talks about how he got into Star Wars, working on Star Wars Rebels, his thoughts on Forces of Destiny, he dodges the question about code 3-1-0, explains his connection to Fenn Rau, and more. Afterwards Bryan, Holly and Mike share their thoughts about the Forces of Destiny episodes.

Geek Out Loud: Episode 214 covers the clash in the UK between the Hulk and Flash Gordan, Steve talks about Spider-Man: Homecoming, shares his thoughts on Spider-Man’s rogues gallery in comparison to Batman’s, covers Transformers: The Last Knight, and then Steve discusses fandom, treatment of fans, and having fun. The rant aside, good episode.

Grand Moff Talkin’: Episode 11 is part 2 of their listener questions covering the Force.

Jedi Beat: Episode 11 explores the cantina scene from A New Hope. Jennifer delves into George’s original screenplay for that scene, how it came about and was developed, Stuart Freeborn’s involvement, how the creatures were created, the reshoots, Greedo, the Modal Nodes, and lots of behind the scenes info plus audio clips. Very informative episode and definitely worth checking out.

Kanata’s Castle: Episode 12 covers food, the Starlight Foundation, Forces of Destiny, then they discuss the relationship between Poe and Leia, their interactions in the Poe Dameron comics, and what would cause Leia to slap Poe in The Last Jedi. Interesting discussion.

Lattes With Leia: Episode 19 touches on some light banter as they cover what they’ve been up to, what they’re drinking, what they’re reading, and then they get into collecting. They talk about what figures they have, how they display, what they collect and their thoughts on collecting. Fun episode.

Rebel Force Radio: Episode 7.21.2017 covers the Radio Flyer Landspeeder, D23 news, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, and features guest David Sparks. Dave talks with them about what D23 was like, details on Galaxy’s Edge, the rides, and the Star Wars hotel. Afterwards Jimmy and Jason dig into the behind-the-scenes trailer, and cover some more George Lucas autograph craziness. Good episode.

Skytalkers: This Galactic Life: Star Wars at D23 goes over the Star Wars news that came out of D23, the behind-the-scenes trailer, the character posters and Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. Good episode.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 1109 is Allen’s top five takeaways from D23.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 1110 talks about hidden secrets for The Last Jedi being kept in plain sight (ie. in books that have already been released).

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 1111 covers Rian John’s reveal of one word from the opening crawl for The Last Jedi.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 1112 was recorded at Skywalker Ranch as Allen discusses Kylo Ren’s new TIE fighter, the TIE Silencer.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 1113 talks about the Star Wars props and costume display at SDCC.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 1114 discusses the porgs, the cute little aliens seen in The Last Jedi behind-the-scenes trailer.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 1115 covers the newly revealed books and adaptation info coming out of SDCC.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 1116 features Allen’s predictions for the big media moments for what remains of 2017. As with all of the Star Wars 7×7 episodes, they’re short, informative, on topic and on point, well produced and always worth listening to. If you’re not checking it out, give it a try.

Talk Star Wars: Episode 79 discusses good film locations, the Force and genes, Luke’s story, responsibility and whether he’ll die. Then they discuss The Last Jedi behind-the-scenes video, the character posters, and Ron Howard pics. Good episode.

Talking Apes TV: Return to the Planet of the Apes Series Wrap-Up and War Review covers their favorite episode of the animated series, their least favorite episode, a bit on one of the short stories from the Planets of the Apes Tales From the Forbidden Zone anthology, and their final thoughts on whether they would recommend it to other fans, as well as their future plans for the show. They wrap up with their review and thoughts on the newly release War For the Planet of the Apes. Good episode.

The Geek Directive: Spider-Man Reviews covers trailers they’ve seen recently, they talk Forces of Destiny, Gotham by Gaslight, Rotten Tomatoes scores, they play the “It’s All Connected” game, then share their thoughts on Spider-Man: Homecoming. Good episode.

The Geek Directive: D23 News & Convention Experience talks about the new Doctor Who, the White Knight Batman comic, the possibility of Tobey McGuire playing Uncle Ben in a Spider-man movie, Valerian, their best and worst convention experiences, Star Wars land, and the passing of Martin Landau and George Romero. Good episode.

TSW Comics: Issue 003 begins with some discussion of the Phasma comic and IDW. Then Marc interviews former Dark Horse Star Wars comic writer Corrina Bechko about her run on the Star Wars: Legacy series. She reveals that she is still not allowed to talk about how Ania Solo was related to Han (ie. grand daughter, great grand daughter), she talks about Thared who was named after a fan, and her thoughts on the possibility of returning to Star Wars. Marc also talks to her about her new upcoming series Green Lantern: Earth 1. Afterwards, Marc and Rob discuss the new Darth Vader series, whether Dooku bled his lightsaber crystal, the Barish vow, the mini-comic in Darth Vader #1, thoughts on Screaming Citadel, and Doctor Aphra #9. Good episode and a great interview.

TSW Kessel Run: Episode 7.20.217 covers Ron Howard updates, costumes and other The Last Jedi thoughts.

  1. Did you folks really recommend a podcast in Geek Out Loud that spent a bunch of time railing against disabled and LGBTQ+ representation in Star Wars?

  2. That is not how I would characterize Steve’s comments in that episode. If you’re new to Geek Out Loud and you haven’t heard much from Steve, I could see how you might get the wrong idea.
