Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Beltway Banthas: Episode 30 is hosted by Swara and features guest Carly as they talk about Padme, Carly’s recent piece in response to an article by the Guardian, thoughts on Leia not being in Episode IX, and they dig into Rogue One, Mon Mothma and politics. Good episode.

Blast Points: Episode 73 celebrates the 40th anniversary of A New Hope as Gabe and Jason talk about which versions they chose for their rewatch, then they dive into the movie with some fun highlights and observations. Great episode.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 119 is solo hosted by Joe as he does a nice commentary for the Nightsisters arc of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Coffee With Kenobi: Episode 67 features guests Jeff McGee and Mike Rodio as they talk Star Wars comics, Dan goes over some Patreon stuff, Mike talks about being on Good Morning America, they talk about the Disney marathons, Battlefront II, the Hasbro toy poll, the Screaming Citadel comic, and other news. Good episode.

Comic Book Noob: Cyborg covers the character’s interesting origins, his abilities, ties between the comics and the glimpse of him in Batman v. Superman, and the complexity of the character, plus their recommended reads. Good episode.

Fly Casual: Episode 134 turns the spotlight on Mike while he’s away, then they get into comic reviews for Darth Maul #3, Poe Dameron #14 and finally their full review of Thrawn now that they’ve all read it. Lots of love for Thrawn. Afterwards they get into rumors and speculation from Oscar Isaac talking about an intense scene with Leia, Kathleen Kennedy saying they pretty much started over with Episode IX after Carrie’s death, the droid swap between BB-8 and R2 at the end of The Force Awakens, and Han Solo character names. Fun episode.

Full of Sith: Episode CCXV covers Rebels, Death Star plans, Greedo and a bunch of other Star Wars topics, as well as how recent Star Wars material has made Han Solo better. Good episode.

Full of Sith: Episode CCXVI features Corey Dee Williams as they talk to him about music, his trip to Celebration and the fun music video he did featuring cosplayers and movie stars at the con. Great episode.

Grand Moff Talkin’: Episode 0 is an introductory show at just 12 minutes and gives listeners an idea of the hosts and their chemistry together. Silly and kinda fun.

Grand Moff Talkin’: Episode 1 debuts the new show as they talk about The Phantom Menace. They touch on lots of things like the droids, the film starting off with action, their thoughts on the acting, and more. There are three hosts, Isaac, Jake and Riley, and I believe only one of the three didn’t like the prequels, so there’s lots of prequel love in this episode, but also some good observations and criticism. They’re not always on point as sometimes they get sidetracked, but they keep it fun and sometimes they’re really insightful. Episode kind of ended abruptly but it was definitely worth checking out. Good audio quality and potential.

Kanata’s Castle: Episode 8 starts out with some conversation on the Starlight Foundation and reaching out to help others, then they get to their main discussion which is about lessons from Star Wars. This turns into a really interesting conversation with some great lines from Star Wars that they dig into and apply to real life. The conversation gets deep and touching and they talk about how those Star Wars lessons have connected with them. Fantastic episode.

Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 124 features guest Jason Flat who talks about his podcast Holy Star Wars.

Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 126 is the weekly news roundup. Great way to quickly catch up on the news.

Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 127 raises an excellent question – how big can Star Wars get?

Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 128 features guests David Cottingham and Casey Cooley as they talk about their Star Wars podcast Inside the Force.

Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 129 is 10 silly Star Wars questions with David Cottingham and Casey Cooley, the hosts of Inside the Force. Fun episode.

Luminous Beings: Episode 3 is hosted by Nathan Roberts and features guest Tim McMahon from Less Than 12 Parsecs as they talk about Tim’s podcast, podcasting in general, the Star Wars community, whether Star Wars fans are influencing the direction of future Star Wars stories, and they get off on a Doctor Who tangent.

Skytalkers: This Galactic Life: The Poster, The Dark Side & The Books covers a bunch of various topics including The Last Jedi poster, light changes on Anakin and Vader in Revenge of the Sith, Padme’s death, Bloodline by Claudia Gray, and the Goodreads ratings of books. Fun episode with some good discussions.

Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 168 covers a bunch of things. They have audio from the May the 4th library event featuring Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia authors Adam Bray and Tricia Barr, the talk with Amanda Bond and Gabriel Colbaugh about Star Wars day at the Desert Research Center and they share an awesome story about how the Death Star trench came to be, plus they talk with Martin Keeler about the Star Wars event at Disneyland Paris which is pretty cool. Great episode.

Star Wars Bookworms: Episode 73 covers news, then they go over Aftermath: Empire’s End by Chuck Wendig. They talk about the characters they liked, the interludes, and their overall thoughts on the book and the series as a whole. Good episode.

Starships Sabers and Scoundrels: Episode 28 celebrates their show anniversary. They have a fun bit with Bor Gullet, cover the news, discuss their favorite Star Wars moments and experiences and there’s lots of guests who drop in throughout the episode. Fun episode.

Talk Star Wars: Episode 69 touches on lots of subjects including Revenge of the Sith, what if Owen and Beru didn’t die, midichlorians, kyber dust and what does the whole line about the strongest stars are made of kyber mean? They get into the limitations of holographic communication, The Force Awakens and Starkiller base, Anakin’s lightsaber, new Hasbro figures on vintage cards, Doctor Aphra, lens, Jaws reference, The Last Jedi IMAX scenes, code names, Han Solo location speculation and other news. Good episode.

TechnoRetro Dads: Episode 5.8.2017 touches on May the 4th, gets into some jokes, they talk about walkmans, the Beatles getting a station on Serious XM, the Beatles Star Wars parody album, VR goggles, infomercials, Narnia, cereal, the video game Centipede, Space Academy, and this week in history. Fun episode.

TechnoRetro Dads: Episode 5.15.2017 is almost entirely Smokey and the Bandit themed from their joke segment to their discussion of the movie. They also talk about how the taste of bananas have changed, Jurassic Park news, the Mermaid parade, Stargate video game, and listener feedback. Another fun episode.

The Deucecast Movie Show: Episode 276 gets into a comedy movie name game, then they go over their mount Rushmore’s of comedic actors. Good episode.

The Nerd Room: TNR High 5 has Tim covering his top five highlights from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. There’s some spoilers so might want to hold off if you haven’t seen the movie yet. Nice episode. At only 12 minutes, it’s a good one to squeeze into your playlist.

The Sandcrawler: Episode 25 has lots of toy talk as they discuss recent changes they’ve made to displaying their collections and their collecting focuses. Dan talks about his Han in carbonite building project, they talk recent buys, and lots of other fun toy discussion.

The Skyhoppers Podcast: Episode XLI has them geeking out on the Thrawn novel. They talk about Thrawn, Eli, Yularen, they jump around to different discussion points, go off on some fun tangents and there are some spoilers but they don’t spoil the whole thing. There’s also some talk of their book club plans. Overall, great episode.

TSW Kessel Run: Episode 5.11.2017 continues the coverage on the t-shirt woes, then Marc talks about Aurra Sing, her appearance in the Darth Maul comic, and whether she could have a bigger role in the films.

TSW Kessel Run: Episode 5.12.2017 talks about the drawing of Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo and other Han Solo stuff.

TSW Kessel Run: Episode 5.13.2017 is more on Teepublic, copyright issues on YouTube, iCloud issues, equipment discussion, and some discussion on leaked Han Solo pics, and Ian McDiarmid possibly returning to voice Palpatine.

TSW Kessel Run: Episode 5.14.2017 Marc talks about the call-in show and touches on why the extra scrutiny from Disney.

TSW Kessel Run: Episode 5.15.2017 offers thanks to those who have used the Amazon links, dives into ideas inspired by Walking Dead podcasts, and covers rewatching The Phantom Menace and the recent passing of one of the actors.

TSW Kessel Run: Episode 5.16.2017 Marc talks about IMAX and his Alien: Covenant plans. This first bit of the episode, around 3 minutes, has some rough audio, but afterwards it clears up as Marc returns to share some non-spoiler thoughts on the movie, and then some thoughts on Padme’s death.

TSW Kessel Run: Episode 5.17.2017 covers a very interesting piece of news as hackers have claimed to obtain an early copy of a big budget Disney movie and are threatening to release it in 20 minute chunks unless they’re paid in bitcoins. Marc talks about how theaters work and the security involved with the films, which is a cool look behind the scenes, and asks whether you would watch the leaked footage if it turned out to be a Star Wars movie?

TSW Toy Box: Episode 2 is hosted by Mark and Rob as they talk about the vinyl cape Jawa, Echo Live, recent acquisitions and they talk with guests Gaz and Lee as they get into reproduction Star Wars items and the consternation that causes for collectors. A bit of dry episode, but very informative.
