Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.
Blast Points: Episode 61 starts with a little news on The Last Jedi, the newly announced Star Wars spoof film, and then they go into the Star Wars read along books for the original trilogy. Great episode as always as they continual explore interesting areas of the Star Wars franchise with lots of fun commentary and analysis.
Blast Points: Episode 62 starts with the news, then they talk about the original auditions for A New Hope and the audition tapes. They go over who tried out for what parts, comment on their auditions from the tapes, and they play audio clips so you can hear Harrison Ford reading for Han Solo with various other actors playing Luke or Leia, or you can hear some of the actors who read for Han including Kurt Russell. Very cool episode.
Bombad Radio: Episode 271 debuts a new co-host, Kaela, and they interview voice actors Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt. They talk Ben 10, Young Justice and voicing Rogue One. Good episode.
Brews and Blasters: Episode 109 is another solo episode with Joe once again diving into Star Wars: The Clones with a commentary for the Yoda arc, ie. the Yoda episodes in season six which ties in nicely with the Mortis arc given the exploration of the Force. Good, insightful stuff.
Comic Book Noob: Red Sonja they start with some listener feedback, then they get into Red Sonja, her origin, her relationship with Conan, new reincarnations of the character, her adventures, the movie and their recommendations. Good episode.
Fauxthentic History: The Death Star covers the history of its creation, its construction and its use as they weave together the books, Rogue One and Star Wars Rebels to create a cohesive throughline.
Fly Casual: Episode 124 starts with a Dave Grohl discussion, then they review Darth Maul #1, Star Wars #28 and Doctor Aphra #4. They cover a Gizmodo article about Legends material that is now canon, and they cover some news and rumors with the actress speculated to voice a droid in the Han Solo movie, Thandie Newton and what character she might be playing, the Rey/Kenobi rumor, and a wild conspiracy theory with Mara Jade, Doctor Aphra and Rey. Fun episode.
Fly Casual: Episode 125 starts off with news, from The Last Jedi to Celebration, and they even touch on Harrison Ford’s landing mishap, plus they get into toy news with the new Hasbro packaging and Toy Fair reveals. Good episode.
ForceCenter: Episode 50 is a great one as they talk about marriage in Star Wars. This leads to a discussion unlike any I can recollect, making it a very worthwhile episode to check out as they compare the relationships and measure them against real world relationships. They bring in their own experiences to make it even more memorable. You don’t want to miss out on this one.
Geek Directive: Movies & Music That Make Us Feel Old features Scott, Jeff and Scott’s wife Jenn as they tackle the usual pop culture news, LEGO Batman, and some games. Fun episode.
Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 73 is a bit more for older fans as Tim has some fun mashing up Star Wars with old TV shows. Love the Hogan’s Heroes idea.
Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 74 is the weekly news roundup covering headlines for The Last Jedi, Inferno Squad, John Williams’ Grammy win, and Harrison Ford’s landing incident.
Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 75 is a conversation with Joe Tavano as he talks about Retrozap and Brews and Blasters. Good episode.
Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 76 is 10 silly Star Wars questions with Joe Tavano from Brews and Blasters which proves to be fun and entertaining as always.
Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 77 touches on filming beginning for the new Han Solo movie but zeroes in on the confirmation of a May release date.
Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 78 goes over the She’ll Always Be Royalty tour that’s being done via Facebook with a vintage Leia action figure. People get turns with the figure as it travels around the world and the share the pictures. Kind of cool.
Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 79 is a headlines roundup episode as Tim goes through the week’s news items including Han Solo, The Last Jedi IMAX scenes, Rogue One Blu-ray and making of book, the Emperor’s Hand reference in Star Wars Rebels and more.
Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 80 is pre-Oscar predictions for Rogue One and a quick rundown of Star Wars past history with Oscar nominations and wins.
Radio 1138: Episode 58 features some interviews with Ian McElhinney, who played General Dodonna in Rogue One, and Guy Henry who played Tarkin in Rogue One. They also talk with the event organizers for SF Ball 23, James talks with his daughter Miriam about her experience on the Rogue One red carpet and interviewing the actors, which is great, and they talk with Gary Whitta about Rogue One. Good episode.
Star Wars 7×7: Episode 958 is part 10 of Allen’s Rogue One novelization coverage. This one covers a lot of miscellaneous stuff including diving into Krennic’s head and Mon Mothma’s isolation.
Star Wars 7×7: Episode 959 is the final part of the Rogue One novelization coverage touching on the insight into Jyn, K2-S0’s last thoughts, Chirrut’s inner eye, the Hammerhead suicide mission, Krennic’s last thoughts, etc.
Star Wars 7×7: Episode 960 covers Triple Zero, the evil 3PO in the Darth Vader and Doctor Aphra comics with an excerpt from the Expanded Comicverse where they talk about one of the more moments of the character’s appearance in the Darth Vader series.
Star Wars Influences: Episode 21 starts with Jimmy and Paul talking about Star Wars and current events. Then they’re joined by Jason as they talk about the prospect of happy endings in Star Wars. Kind of light on the influences part, but some enjoyable discussions.
Talk Star Wars: Episode 59 cont what bounty hunters they’d like to see in the Han Solo film, will Luke be a pilot or a hobo in The Last Jedi, does Owen know Vader is Anakin, Celebration news and some info and speculations on The Last Jedi. Nice Owen discussion buried in there. Good episode.
The Sandcrawler: Episode 16 kicks off with Dan’s celebration of the Patriots’ Super Bowl victory, then they talk with Michael Nipp about Star Wars Celebration tips, they talk with Jake Owens (TOY RUN Podcast) about collecting, Star Wars, his collection, Hasbro, 3-3/4 figures and more. Great conversation. Good episode.
The Sandcrawler: Episode 17 features guest Joe Tavano as they go through all the news from Toy Fair. Fun coverage.
You Talk We Listen (Fangirls Going Rogue): Episode 1 features a conversation between Tricia and guests Sandra Choute and Adjua Adama as they talk about their Star Wars fandom and Rogue One. Fun episode.
