Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.
Aggressive Negotiations: Issue 047 features guest Nic Anastassiou as they talk Rogue One. Nic shares a lot of thoughts on the film and provides comparisons to his time on Star Wars: The Clone Wars covering effects, editing and more.
Awards Chatter: Vince Vaughn episode features a nice interview as Vince talks about his childhood, starting out in drama, moving to comedy, booking jobs, and go back to drama. He touches on films like Swingers, Dodgeball, The Break Up, his latest movie Hacksaw Ridge and the tv series True Detective.
Blast Points: Episode 56 starts out with Donnie Yen playing the piano for a Rogue One music video, then they cover Episode VIII news, Disney’s Galactic Nights, and then head into their main discussion which covers their favorite 90’s Star Wars toy commercials. It’s a blast from the past and a fun one.
Brews and Blasters: Episode 103 starts with some fun Jango Fett discussion, masquerade parties, Richard Greico, Pruneface not being in the Databank, Star Wars Rebels “Ghosts of Geonosis” thoughts, Woody Harrelson being in Han Solo movie as a mentor, space twinkies, Blue Squadron, the Profundity and Radis, Star Tours, how cool a Star Wars hotel would be, need’em got’em and Rogue One wave 3, Bohdi space truck driver, Thrawn, emails, the Kenobi vs Vader fight, Bor Gullet, Episode VIII and Leia. Tons of fun and another great episode.
Fangirls Going Rogue: Episode 40 covers Carrie Fisher, reading The Princess Diarist, and their thoughts on CGI and recasting. Then they switch gears around 40 minutes into the episode to discuss Star Wars Rebels “Ghosts of Geonosis,” Funko Pops, box office numbers, Rogue One stuff and why Jyn isn’t people’s favorite character. Good episode.
Fly Casual: Episode 119 is a news and toys episode. They talk about Carrie’s passing, how Star Wars moves forward, Rogue One, Han Solo being moved to December, Woody Harrelson, Hail Caesar, 4k Star Wars, new Star Wars mobile game with Star Wars Rebels and comic characters, new figures and new Funko Pops. Good episode.
ForceCenter: Episode 45 discusses Carrie Fisher and the tough choice of what to do with Leia in the upcoming movies. They also cover Star Wars Rebels “Ghosts of Geonosis” and the midseason trailer, Rogue One, and listener emails. Good episode. Always great discussions.
Full of Sith: Episode CC features Mike and Holly. Holly talks about the recent Disney marathon she did, and they talk about Holly joining the podcast full time now which is awesome news as I really like Holly as a host on the show. They talk about a variety of subjects in this episode including Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover and the Han Solo movie, Holly’s love for Greedo, fandom, Disney, Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds and more. Great episode and lots of fun.
Galactic Fashion: Episode 19 stars with a Rogue One discussion as they talk character deaths, Saw and Star Wars Rebels. Then they get into fashion as they talk about Jyn’s boots, Rex sweaters and other items. Then they interview Tony Kim about Hero Within. It’s a very interesting interview getting into the nuts and bolts of the fashion industry as well as the unique aims of Hero Within. Afterwards there’s some more fashion discussion, fashion ratings, and the history of jeans. Good episode.
Geek Directive (Assembly of Geeks): The Mighty Margaret Stohl starts off with rumors of Carrie’s role in Star Wars Episode IX, Woody Harrelson in the Han Solo movie, then Matt Moore joins them to debate against Jeff on BT-1 and Triple Zero from the Darth Vader comics, which turns into a fun segment. Afterwards they talk with author, comic and video game writer Margaret Stohl about Spider-Man, Black Widow and The Mighty Captain Marvel, plus they play word connection. Good stuff.
Great Big Beautiful Podcast: Episode 112 introduces a new guest co-host, then they interview author Terry Brooks who talks about his Shannara series, writing, and even some Star Wars movie discussion. Interesting interview.
Idiot’s Array: Episode 39 is a crossover episode with Tarkin’s Top Shelf as they’re joined by Becca for a Rogue One, Catalyst and Star Wars Rebels discussion.
Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode 48 dives into Leia speculation and the impending sadness of Luke.
Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode 49 features me as Tim talks to me about Roqoo Depot and the Podcasts in Review. So meta.
Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode 50 goes through the contests winners of Tim’s latest contest of Star Wars prizes.
Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode 51 is a new segment, a Star Wars news roundup. Tim goes through this week’s headlines and shares his thoughts. Great way to catch up quickly with what’s going on in Star Wars.
Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode 52 features me again as I tacked the 10 silly Star Wars questions. It’s actually a lot harder than you would think as you’re put on the spot and given just 10 seconds to answer, but it’s fun!
Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode 53 runs down several Star Wars items, seeing Rogue One again, pronouncing the Force, the Rogue One soundtrack, “true” Star Wars fans, gray Jedi and podcasts. Good episode.
Rebel Yell: Ghosts of Geonosis features Steve, Erich, Teresa and Aaron Goins. They start off with a story about Vanessa Marshall running into Natalie Portman at the grocery store, then Teresa talks with Luke about Star Wars Rebels. Afterwards they get into the episodes as they discuss Saw and his actions, Klik Klak and the Geonosians, Bor Gullet, prequel references, the midseason trailer and thoughts on Stephen Stanton voicing Obi-Wan.
Rebels Chat: Episode 66 covers Star Wars Rebels “Ghosts of Geonosis.” Fun commentary and observations on episode, characters and moments. Plus their thoughts on the midseason trailer, Maul and listener questions. I really liked this one.
Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 152 covers Star Tours, the Rogue One visual guide, and then they dive deep into Star Tours with guest Mark Eades. Mark was one of the key people behind the creation of the original ride. He talks about simulators, designing the ride, finding the voice for Rex with Flight of the Navigator, and much more. Afterwards there’s a good ask Tink segment. Fantastic episode and a must listen for anyone interesting in the history and the behind the scenes story of Star Tours. This one gets my pick of the week as the interview with Mark was awesome.
Star Wars 7×7: Episode 923 covers the short story and Catalyst tie-in “Voice of the Empire,” a story featured in Star Wars Insider.
Star Wars 7×7: Episode 927 covers Star Wars Rebels “Warhead,” the shades of Empire Strikes Back and xenophobic droids.
Star Wars 7×7: Episode 929 touches on K-2SO and comparisons to Pinocchio, diving into K-2SO’s actions in Rogue One.
Starships Sabers and Scoundrels: Episode 20 starts with Jyn jokes, then they get into news, they bring on guest Jay Krebs for a nice in-depth Jyn Erso discussion, then they wrap things up with Star Wars Rebels “Warhead.” Good episode and a great guest.
The DC Justice Cast: Who Has Been Batman Other Than Bruce Wayne pretty much says it all as Jeremiah runs down the list for a quick 7 minute episode with some interesting info.
The Expanded Comicverse: Episode 009 marks a return of the podcast as hosts Tim (Less Than Twelve Parsecs) and Allen (Star Wars 7×7) dive into Star Wars comics. They cover the Sunspot prison arc in the Marvel Star Wars series and The Last Flight of the Harbinger arc. Fun discussion with a lot of info for those who haven’t checked out the comics but would like to find out what’s going on.
The Gamer’s Dominion (Assembly of Geeks): Leah Hoyer of Telltale Games features an interview with Leah as they talk game design, storytelling and Batman. Good audio and a good interview with a nice, upbeat host. I might have to start checking out more of these. At 25 minutes, it’s short enough to squeeze into your playlist and not take up too much of your time.
The Nerd Room: Episode 56 is hosted by Tim and Troy as they talk about a new Justice League photo, Marvel, Golden Globes, comic book pick of the week, Wood Harrelson and the Han Solo movie, Episode VIII thoughts, what to do with Leia, Death troopers, the Star Wars Rebels midseason trailer. Good episode with excellent audio quality and lots of discussions.
The Sandcrawler: Episode 13 covers New Year’s, everyone weighs in on their favorite Power of the Force 2 figures, and they talk about the toys they got for the holidays. Good episode.
TSW After Darkside: Episode 35 covers current events, Rebel Force Radio, Rogue One, Captain Radish and Uncle Hand, the soundtrack, emails, HTML, backups, Steve Jobs and iPhone woes.
TSW Feature Comms: Vol 2 is a commentary on A New Hope as the hosts of Talk Star Wars share their thoughts on the movie that started it all, at least the Blu-ray version of it. Note this was recorded prior to Rogue One‘s release.
