Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Ausfans Radio: Bonus Episode Rogus Spoilerus Maximus is a nice, casual, laid back conversation about Rogue One between Alan and guest Davis Grayson (Fandom Podcast Network). It’s also a shorter episode at just 22 minutes.

Ausfans Radio: Bonus Rogue One Spoiler Review gives a summary of the film and Alan’s opinions. This one is also a short episode at just 12 minutes.

Beltway Banthas: Episode 19 begins with guest Joseph Tavano as they talk about how Retrozap started, white supremacists boycotting Rogue One, Bob Iger joining an advisory committee for Donald Trump, Adam Driver’s comments on Kylo Ren being a terrorist, and comparing the First Order to real world entities. Then they talk with guest Brittany Hunter about the factions of the Rebellion in Rogue One as they look at American history with the likes of John Adams and Samuel Adams. They get into the middle east, terrorist groups, Arab Spring, the Death Star and different types of rebels. It’s a very intriguing conversation. Great stuff.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 101 begins with a 18 minute focus on Carrie Fisher as they share their praise and recount meeting her. Then the normal show starts as they talk about the decraniated on Jedha, Westworld, Saw and the oxygen mask, the music of Rogue One and more Rogue One observations. Good episode.

Coffee With Kenobi: Episode 62 features a Rogue One round table with Dan, Cory, Matt Moore, Jeff McGee, Randy Therio and Aaron Harris. Some interesting discussions and comments. Good episode.

Coffee With Kenobi: Carrie Fisher in Memoriam features guest Bill Thill as they talk about Carrie and her legacy.

Databank Brawl: Episode 31 puts Moroff up against General Dodonna in a fight on Felucia where bounties and breath masks come into play.

Disney Vault Talk: Chicken Little has a lot of discussion before they get to their main topic. They cover DuckTales, songs and Rogue One before heading into Chicken Little. Good episode and fun as always.

Full of Sith: Episode CXCVIII features “The Voices of Star Wars Animation” panel from Salt Lake Comic Con. The panel is hosted by Amy and includes voice actors James Arnold Taylor, Steve Blum, Phil Lamarr, and Fred Tatiascore. It’s a blast to listen to as they break into voices and share stories. Afterwards Mike and Bryan talk a little Rogue One.

Full of Sith: Episode CXCIX features Holly, Bryan and Mike as they talk about Carrie’s passing, discuss Carrie and Leia, and they keep it upbeat for a nice show.

Geek Out Loud: Episode 203 features Steve, Erich and guest Christian Blauvelt. They discuss the movies of December but with an emphasis on the Oscar runners, ie. the dramas and musicals. Afterwards they have a Rogue One discussion. Good episode.

Geek Out Loud: Episode 204 kicks the show off with some Big Honkin news, then Steve cuts to a conversation he and Shazbazzar had after going to the Bigfoot museum, plus some fun Rogue One discussion and the Yoda seagulls song. Fun episode.

Jedi Journals: January 2017 covers the usual literature news, newly releases items and upcoming stuff in the world of comics, books and magazines. They also talk about Chris buying a Nissan Rogue One Rogue though I’m pretty sure they’re joking about him doing it for the exclusive Rogue One manual. They talk about the upcoming comic cover variants for the 40th anniversary, and they talk about the Ahsoka novel.

Lattes With Leia: Episode 12 discusses The Princess Diarist, the Rogue One visual guide, they talk about rewatching The Clone Wars, then they head into their main discussion on Rogue One. They dissect the theme, share their favorite characters, and talk about some of the little things they had issues with or thought were odd. Good episode.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode #0044 features Mark and Dave from Hot Wampa as they answer 10 silly Star Wars questions.

My Star Wars Story: Rogue One Commentary Track features a impressive trio – Scott Ryfun, Steve Glosson and Shazbazzar. Despite Steve’s derailing with bad english impersonations, they get through the whole thing and stay pretty much on topic as they share their observations and thoughts on the film. Either way, it’s very funny.

My Star Wars Story: Episode 23 features Karl LaClair from The Wampa’s Lair as he shares his Star Wars story. Karl talks about how he was introduced to Star Wars, playing with the toys, seeing the movies for the first time, and how religion brought him closer to Star Wars. Good episode and Karl brings a new story unlike the ones that have come before.

Rebel Yell: An Inside Man and Visions and Voices features Steve, Teresa, Erich and author Cole Horton as they discuss Star Wars Rebels “An Inside Man” and “Visions and Voices.” They also venture into some other areas of Star Wars and play one of the best Star Wars parody songs I’ve ever heard, “Thrawn Aims to Kill” by Shazbazaar, a mash-up of Iron Maiden “Run to the Hills” and Thrawn.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 910 is a memoriam for all the Star Wars celebrities that were lost in 2016, which is followed by some audio of a radio segment Allen did about Carrie’s passing.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 913 covers Star Wars Rebels and Thrawn and publishing for 2017, giving listeners an idea of what’s coming.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 914 looks forward to the next Force Friday, more episodes of The Star Wars Show and The Star Wars Aftershow, new EW Star Wars articles, comics, and a return of the Expanded Comicverse.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 915 examines whether Chirrut Imwe is a Jedi. Nice discussion taking a look at what we know.

Star Wars Minute: Attack of the Clones Minute 37 continues the shows ongoing effort to cover every individual minute of the Star Wars saga. Their guest in this episode is Riley Silverman as they talk about Padme’s quiet dinner scene, the Jedi veranda and all the Jedi younglings in Yoda’s classroom.

Star Wars Report: Episode 254 is kind of a A New Hope commentary. It features Riley, Bethany, Scott Ryfun, Mark and for the first part of it, Steve Glosson. They talk some about the movie, and they get off topic on other Star Wars things. Later on Steve drops off and is replaced by Red Five Mom as they finish out the commentary as they countdown to New Year’s Eve. It’s an interesting episode to say the least.

Starships Sabers and Scoundrels: Episode 19 starts with news such as Star Wars Celebration Orlando 4-day tickets being sold out, the stage hosts, tattoo pavilion, Rogue One box office numbers, then they celebrate Carrie Fisher via their favorite Star Wars scenes, and they have some Rogue One listener feedback. Good episode.

Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 150 features Rich, Sarah and Tricia Barr as they talk about Carrie Fisher. Listeners also weigh in with Carrie Fisher moments. There’s some emotional points, and they talk about planned events. About 49 minutes in, they switch gears to talk with David Collins about Rogue One. They talk about introducing kids to Star Wars, the voice actor for Wedge participating for Rogue One, Gold Leader coming back to do his voice, and more. This one is essential listening as Dave shares some great insight into the movie.

TechnoRetro Dads: 2016-2017 Memories and Expectations covers the good things of 2016, Captain Underpants, 2016 movie numbers, then guests Craig Batts and Jack Crabtree join them as they celebrate Carrie Fisher. Afterwards they get into 2017 movies and the eclipse.

The 602 Club: Episode S25 features Matthew Rushing, Scott Ryfun and Bruce Gibson as they talk Star Wars: Catalyst. They cover the character relationships, significant themes, and the background building of history. Note this show is pre-Rogue One release. Good episode.

The Expanded Fandomverse Podcast: Rogue One Fan Review & Holiday Special features Jason and his daughter Reese as she shares her thoughts on Rogue One. They also play listener feedback on the movie and squeeze in some Star Wars holiday music. Good episode.

The Trade Federation: Episode 84 features hosts Joe and Bill as they talk about some Star Wars Destiny Spirit of the Rebellion news and a bunch of card talk. About 42 minutes in, they discuss Rogue One, and they talk about Carrie’s passing. This is my first time listening to The Trade Federation, so I didn’t realize they were a Star Wars card game podcast, and this podcast is definitely for players of the card game. I don’t play the card games, so a lot of this episode was lost on me. That said, they’ve got good audio quality and it’s a good pair of hosts, so if you are into the cards, you’ll want to check this podcast out.

TSW After Darkside: Episode 34 goes into phone issues, new equipment, new app, snow stories, and a strange encounter that’s both dirty and funny. Kind of a slow start to the episode but a good ending.

TSW Round Table: Episode 0 kicks off a new monthly podcast hosted by Robert Cast and featuring in this episode Marc and Rob from Talk Star Wars. Robert lays out what the podcast will be, goals, and they talk podcasting in general. Note the idea behind this podcast is that they’ll be featuring listeners as a regular part of their roundtable, which is an interesting idea.

Western Reaches: Episode 20 covers the usual topics of what they’re reading and playing. They cover Catalyst, the Rogue One novelization and Alexander Freed sneaking in more female characters, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, Ghostland, Barren Cove, The Three-Body Problem, Singer from the Sea, Titanfall 2, Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise, Indefinite and Mini Metro. Their main discussion compares Halo: Reach to Rogue One which is a pretty fun discussion.
