Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.
Awards Chatter: Rob Reiner episode covers the role his father has played in his life, and how he got into acting and directing. Rob recounts some stories, touches on the films he’s made, and talks a little about his latest project LBJ. Great episode.
Awards Chatter: Jeff Bridges episode is an excellent interview covering how Jeff got into acting, touching on his various roles, his love for music, working on Hell or High Water, and why he’s still acting.
Beltway Banthas: Episode XVII starts with a little Saturday Night Live discussion before they bring on their guest Bobby Roberts for a full on politics discussion. They talk a little Star Wars, but it’s very heavy on the real world politics side of things. They go over the comparison of Dooku to Trump and Hilary to Palpatine, social media memes, and the article about rebellions are built on hope. It leads to some interesting discussions. Good episode.
Brews and Blasters: Episode 95 starts with a Monster Squad shirt discussion, some sushi talk, they get into Rhode Island Comic Con, Neverending Story, they review Star Wars Rebels “Imperial Supercommandos,” recasting Star Wars characters, iTunes reviews, Need’em Got’em and some Taxi discussion. Fun episode.
Brews and Blasters: Episode 96 goes into seltzer, italian food for Thanksgiving, updated drinking game rules, listener feedback, a Point Break breakdown, they talk about the newly announced Darth Maul comic series, Richard Grieco and their experience at Rhode Island Comic Con, the David Prowse documentary, the go over the new Rogue One trailers, they go over the trailer for Valerian, they touch on Warwick Davis’ character in Rogue One, and more. Great episode.
Comic Book Noob: Black Canary/White Canary covers both the superhero and the super villain as they discuss the origins and the differences between the two. They also cover the differences between the comic book characters and their tv counterparts. Nice episode to help educate fans. Entertaining as always.
Databank Brawl: Episode 27 pits Admiral Ackbar against Maz Kanata for a showdown at the Resistance Base on D’Qar. Sometimes the brawls can be silly and sometimes they’re more entertaining than others. With this one, it’s kind of hard listening to these two characters go at it since they should theoretically be on the same side and it’s hard to root for one over the other. It’s a case of two people who you don’t want to see fighting each other.
Databank Brawl: Episode 26 put Grummgar against Momaw Nadon. This battle is a bit easier to enjoy as the matchup is more fitting in canon. Grummgar winds up on a big game hunt on Ithor where he runs into Momaw Nadon who is tending his garden. A fight ensues and it gets pretty entertaining with some fun voices. Good episode.
ForceCenter: Episode 37 delves into some fun topics and news, they speculate on Rogue One box office numbers, then they head into politics and Star Wars as their main discussion. They talk about the politics in the OT and the PT, Bloodlines and they speculate about Episode VIII. Good episode.
Rebel Force Radio: Episode 11.12.2016 has a full recap of Jimmy Mac’s visit to Rancho Obi-Wan and the 2016 gala. Lot of fun stories. Good episode.
Rebel Force Radio: Declassified The Last Battle features Jimmy, Jason, Spencer and Jay from Jedi Journals as they talk about the episode of Star Wars Rebels.
Rebel Force Radio: Declassified Imperial Supercommandos features Jimmy, Jason, Spencer, Tyler and a few guests as they review the episode of Star Wars Rebels.
Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 144 covers the Doctor Strange 10K, the Beauty and the Beast trailer, and a very nice interview with the Star Wars Holiday Special director Steve Binder. Steve talks about how he came onboard the project and how things were handed over to him, he talks about working on the special, the intentions of the project, and he talks a little about what he’s gone on to do afterwards. If you hang on after the shows end credits and bloopers, they have some bonus interview clips with Steve that are worth listening to.
Talk Star Wars: Episode 49 announces the newest member of the Star Wars Commonwealth, The Skyhoppers PodCast. Then they talk about Jedi being liars, whether Obi-Wan and Yoda wanted to save Anakin, whether Luke lied to Ben Solo, they discuss Kylo talking to Vader’s helmet, the differences in Vader’s fighting styles, Leia knowing Luke was her brother, the ability of anyone to use the Force, Luke’s landing on Dagobah being chance or skill, and they talk about new Rogue One images. Good episode.
TSW After Darkside: Episode 30 has a lot of shop talk, some discussion on ads, a little politics and some discussion on viewpoints.
