Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Blast Points: Episode 49 starts with news, they go over the new Rogue One tv spot and they dive into the two international trailers. Their main discussion, however, is kyber crystals as they talk about some Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes that focuses on kyber crystals and how these items are important to Star Wars and Rogue One. Great episode.

Children of the Force: Episode 49 has some Star Wars Rebels Thrawn discussion, they watch and comment on the Rogue One trailer, they talk about the poster, the Rogue One Energizer commercial, and they discuss Ahsoka’s alias. Fun episode.

Classic Marvel Star Wars Comics: Episode #11 covers Marvel Star Wars #11 “Star Search.” As usual, they’re joined by Star Wars artist Randy Martinez as they go through the issue and comment on the story, characters and artwork for a fun discussion. Randy also talk a little bit about his Star Wars Celebration plans. Good episode.

Coffee With Kenobi: Gillette Rogue One Special Event Coverage episode is kind of different. Of all things, there was a Gillette Rogue One event in London and Dan Zehr was able to attend so they have lots of coverage of the event including audio from some of the guests who attended and some discussions with fellow fans who were there. The first half of the episode focuses on the Gillette Rogue One commercial, while the second half is Dan talking with fellow fans. The weird part, though, is that the whole thing is centered around a Gillette commercial. I’m not sure what I think about it other than perhaps commercialization is going too far.

Fangirls Going Rogue: Episode 38 has some spoiler free Ahsoka discussion, they talk a little about the Rogue One trailer and Donald Glover playing Lando, they have some Rex discussion, a Geek Girl Con report, and guest Catherine Elhoffer joins them to talk Star Wars fashion. Great episode.

Fauxthentic History: Battle of Naboo Part 2 covers the war as they go into how the battle unfolded and it’s ultimate result. It’s best to listen to part 1 and part 2 back-to-back. Good episodes and definitely worth checking out.

Fly Casual: Episode 113 starts with scotch and heads into reviews as they talk about Star Wars #24, Poe Dameron #7, Star Wars Rebels “The Last Battle” and the Ahsoka novel which leads to some discussion of lightsaber crystal which are pretty minor spoilers, nothing you need to worry about if you haven’t read the book yet. Afterwards its rumors as they focus on Episode VIII, the Stormtrooper executioner, Rey/Kylo rumors, a bacta suit for Finn, and some Rogue One info on Jyn Erso. Good episode.

Full of Sith: Episode CLXXXIX is a listener mailbox episode which leads to lots of fun discussion topics. Great episode.

Full of Sith: Episode CXCI features Mike, Bryan and Holly as they talk about how Star Wars makes them feel better, positivity in Star Wars, and the moments they like. It’s a feel good episode that’s fun to listen to.

Rock Out Loud: 1986 (Behind the Podcast) is one of the most creative podcast saves I’ve ever listened to. From time to time podcasts have audio issues or lose episodes. For this one, Steve salvages an episode by turning it into a behind the scenes VH1 documentary. It’s genius. It starts with documentary setup, then eases into the normal show with Kristin recounting her trip to go see The Killers in Vegas and her experience at the Bruce Springsteen book signing. The audio issue happens halfway through the Springsteen story, which is where the behind the scenes setup saves the day as it segues into their second recording as Kristin finishes her story and they go through their favorite songs of 1986. It’s a great episode made even better by the perfect save.

Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 143 features a bunch of guests as they talk about their experience at the Rancho Obi-Wan Gala. They also have their “Ask Tink” segment, they talk about the Walt Disney Family Museum, and they talk about the Disney vacation party. On top of all that, they help spread the word about the GoFundMe for fellow podcaster Joe Mignano.

Star Wars Bookworms: Episode 63 includes some coverage of the Rogue One trailer, Bria talks about NYCC Star Wars book info, they have some audio from the panel with Ashley Eckstein and E. K. Johnston about Ahsoka, and Aaron and Bria talk a little about the Ahsoka audiobook and the novel (spoiler free as neither of them had finished it at this point). Their main discussion is on the second volume of the Darth Vader comic series and they also touch on Darth Vader #25 and the Doctor Aphra series.

Star Wars Bookworms: Episode 64 features Aaron and Matt Rushing as they dive into some general book discussion to kick things off. From Aftermath: Life Debt to the excerpt for Catalyst, they get into some fun subjects. Their main discussion is on Star Wars Vol. 2: Showdown on the Smuggler’s Moon. They talk about whether Obi-Wan failed in not training Luke, the Sana Solo plot, Grakkus the Hutt, Chewie fighting Dengar, the Gamemaster and Luke’s training, the gungan, the plot hole with the lightsabers and more. Great episode.

Star Wars Bookworms: Episode 65 features Aaron and Megan as they get into some spoiler free discussion of Ahsoka, then review the Lando comic mini-series, as well as discussing Donald Glover playing Lando. Good episode.

Star Wars Oxygen: Volume 36 finishes off their discussion of Revenge of the Sith as they talk about “New Hope and End Credits.” As usual, Dave blows everyone’s minds by revealing stuff in the end credits that I had no idea about. He delves into the extended Throne Room theme, and then heads into stats with spreadsheet statistics on the themes for ROTS as well as the saga as a whole. Excellent episode.
