Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.
Assembly of Geeks: When Wrestling Collides With Geek Culture starts with Superman, the Donald Glover news, the Guardians of the Galaxy teaser, the Aquaman movie, and they have on guest Ophidian to talk about Chikara wrestling which is a bit odd. I’m not familiar with it. It sounds kind of like live action roleplaying. Also worth noting, Jeremiah fills in for Jeff on this episode.
Beltway Banthas: Eric Geller Episode features guest Eric Geller as they talk politics and Star Wars.
Brews and Blasters: Episode 93 touches on bourbon, Ludacris, Star Wars jackets, acapella John Williams, Joe talks himself into opening up the new Disney Droid Factory set on “Need’em Got’em,” they get into Rex and Star Wars Rebels “The Last Battle,” and more. A blast as always.
Children of the Force: Reaction Corps “The Last Battle” dives into the viewpoints of the Clone Wars for some interesting discussion.
Comics With Kenobi: Issue #23 covers The Force Awakens #4, Star Wars #23 and Poe Dameron #6. They also talk about Star Wars: Classified (this was prior to the Doctor Aphra series announcement). Good comic discussion as always.
Fly Casual: Episode 110 starts with a fun discussion of the Rogue One trailer, they talk about Lando and the Han Solo movie, the upcoming Doctor Aphra comic series, over diversification and things get funny with the blunt guillotine. They have a Force Duel bit, and they wrap things up with the toy report which touches on new Black Series figures, planet cars, ThinkGeek BB-8 waffle maker, and a life size Han in carbonite. Good episode, very funny.
Hangin’ With Team Kanan: Episode 23 covers Star Wars Rebels “The Last Battle” as they share their thoughts on the episode, their concerns for Rex, what it was like seeing the battle droids again, and they touch on the Donald Glover news.
Rebel Force Radio: Episode 10.28.2016 is their Halloween episode as they take on some listener questions, talk about the Duracell Rogue One commercial, Star Wars phone cases, the new TFA release, and they have on guest Steve Sansweet to talk about Rancho Obi-Wan.
Rebel Yell: The Last Battle is hosted by Steve, Erich and Jawa James as they talk about the hashmarks on Rex’s helmet, clankers, Kulani and Snoke theories, how the clones were decommissioned, why Ezra doesn’t know Kanan is a Clone Wars veteran, battle droid humor, D-Squad, and they wrap things up with Wear Star Wars, Share Star Wars.
Rebels Chat: Episode 56 covers Star Wars Rebels “The Antilles Extraction” with some nice observations and good discussion.
Rebels Chat: Episode 59 covers Star Wars Rebels “The Last Battle” as they talk about Rex, battle droid humor, the significance of the “most of the time” reference, hitting technology to make it work, Kulani the super tactical droid, listener questions and whether Thrawn will capture Kulani. Good episode.
Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 141 has a Halloween theme to it as they talk about Not So Scary Farm, new Star Wars Disney items, a really nice breakdown of Disney’s Mystic Manor ride, a recap of a Pixar exhibit and some interviews. Good episode. I really enjoyed the coverage of Mystic Manor, finding out some of the backstory on the ride and their conversation with Professor Kate Lingley on Chinese culture and spirits.
Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 142 is their Halloween episode. They kicks things off sharing their Star Wars wedding story, then provide some really good Doctor Strange coverage. They go over the character’s history, and they share their spoiler free thoughts on the movie since they saw an advanced screening. There’s even some audio clips of the actors and creators talking about the film taken from the press screening they attended. On top of all that are a bunch of guests who stop by which leads to some fun with guessing Halloween costumes and handy out goofy treats. Fun episode.
The Sandcrawler: Episode 6 is their Halloween special as they go over the worst looking Hasbro 3-3/4-inch action figures which might seem negative, but was a very fun conversation. Good episode.
TSW After Dark Side (Talk Star Wars): Episode 28 begins with some Ahsoka novel spoilers, so fair warning, then they talk about Nintendo Next, bleep words, the Logan trailer, Ken Bone and they play some more of the rap battle.
Western Reaches: Episode 16 covers second person narration, The Fifth Season, Hag-Seed, Shakespeare, fan-fiction, Hundred Thousand Worlds, Virginia, Dishonored, grounded mode, VR, Star Wars Rebels, Thrawn and the show doing a tribute to TCW. There’s some books discussion, some video games discussion and some Star Wars Rebels.
