Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.
Assembly of Geeks: Rogue One, Caped Crusaders & Knowing All Things Marvel includes Matt filling in for Jeff as they talk about Batman, the Rogue One trailer, the tone of the new Wonder Woman movie, Harry Potter news, DC and Marvel tv/film, and they have on guest Adam Bray to talk about his new Marvel book and his upcoming books including Stormtroopers: The Complete Guide. Good episode, lot of fun.
Beyond the Vote: Episode 11 covers the debates, Riley states why he can’t vote for Trump, and Scott talks about his hurricane coverage.
Blast Points: Episode 44 jumps right into their thoughts on the new Rogue One trailer. They share their observations and commentary. Fun episode.
Blast Points: Episode 45 covers some Episode VIII news comparing tone to that of the Dagobah tree scene, some Rogue One news and some Star Wars Rebels news. Then they cover their Ewok challenge as they recount their attempts to watch the Ewok cartoon show. They start out breaking down the first few episodes and the silliness that ensued. Afterwards, they kind of brush over some other memorable moments, then throw down the gauntlet to listeners to see how many episodes you can get through. Another fun episode, and a tempting challenge.
Blast Points: Episode 46 starts off with new The Force Awakens content being teased and other news like the Rogue One runtime. Then they talk about the documentary From Star Wars to Jedi and Back Again. Good episode.
Brews and Blasters: Episode 92 covers listener feedback, Infectious Groove, news, new TFA content, they cover the Rogue One trailer, Star Wars Rebels “Hera’s Heroes” and more. Great episode as always.
Fangirl Chat: Ghostbusters episode covers the new movie and their thoughts on it. Very positive review. Fun episode.
Fangirls Going Rogue: Episode 37 covers lots of topics including Force Friday, recent purchases, Finn jackets, Jyn’s mom, Star Wars Rebels music, Rogue One updates, box office expectations, Episode VIII, and the first Star Wars items they ever got. They have an excellent interview with voice actor Andrew Kishino who played Saw Gerrera in Star Wars: The Clone Wars covering his hip hop career, how he got into voice acting, they talk Star Wars, doing TCW, and tackling the character of Saw. Afterwards they talk Star Wars Rebels and Ezra’s casual use of the Force. Great episode. For the interview alone, this episode is definitely worth checking out as it ties in nicely to Rogue One.
Fictional Frontiers: Episode 384 features a nice interview with author John Jackson Miller as he talks about the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, his new Star Trek trilogy Prey, and his comic website Comichron.
Fly Casual: Episode 109 starts with some soup talk then they get into reviews. They review Star Wars #23, Star Wars Rebels “Steps Into Darkness” and “The Holocrons of Fate.” Afterwards they dive into rumors as they talk about the actress playing Jyn’s mom, some of the Rogue One aliens, and Warwick Davis’ comments.
ForceCenter: Episode 33 covers the female lead for the Han Solo movie, they talk Star Wars Rebels, news on a Star Wars Land ride, and their main discussion focuses on Red Letter Media’s Mr. Plinkett’s review of The Force Awakens. Good episode.
GOL Daily: Episode 10.17.2016 kicks off something new as Steve tries out a daily Geek Out Loud podcast with a half hour format. In this one he covers some news, some Doctor Strange and some Thor: Ragnarok. I have to admit, I really like the half hour format.
GOL Daily: Episode 10.18.2016 covers Superman from the beginnings up until now, as wells as some TFA as new content is teased for the collector’s edition. Good episode.
GOL Daily: Episode 10.20.2016 features Steve talking about Superman’s appearance in the Supergirl tv show, Whedon talking about doing a Star Wars movie, Nintendo Switch, the Logan trailer, and Steve provides commentary for a YouTube video covering the intros of old cartoon shows.
GOL Daily: Episode 10.21.2016 covers the Lando news, Springsteen’s Harry Potter music, and then Steve breaks for listener calls covering world merging in DC and more.
Hangin’ With Team Kanan: Episode 22 covers the Star Wars Rebels episode “Hera’s Heroes.” It’s a fun little breakdown at just 27 minutes. Good one to add to the playlist.
Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 23 is Tim’s 5 favorite lines from The Empire Strikes Back.
Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 24 is Tim’s gut reaction to the new Rogue One trailer.
Less Than 12 Parsecs: Bonus Episode 1 is special in that it’s 8 minutes long instead of the usual 5 minutes. This one features guest Jason Collier as they talk about the Expanded Fandomverse.
Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 26 ponders what will happen when the trademark on Star Wars ages off and people have the opportunity to re-envision it.
Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode 27 covers the news of who is playing Young Lando and Tim’s thoughts on it.
Rebel Force Radio: Declassified “The Antilles Extraction” features Jimmy, Jason and Tyler the Intern as they talk about the cult of Wedge, how the episode was almost about Biggs, Fulcrum and Kallus, Sabine and the Mandalorians.
Rebel Force Radio: Episode 10.21.2016 is a listener feedback episode as they cover reactions to the new Rogue One trailer. You can skip it if you want.
Rebel Yell: The Antilles Extraction and Hera’s Heroes features Steve, Erich, Kay and Amy as they cover two Star Wars Rebels episodes. They also share some thoughts on the new Rogue One trailer and get into a lot of fun tangents. Great episode.
Star Wars 7×7: Episode 838 covers the Rogue One backstory reveal of the ownership of the Death Star and Jyn’s mom.
Star Wars 7×7: Episode 839 ponders the question of whether Han Solo is alive or not.
Star Wars 7×7: Episode 841 is a trivia challenge episode as Joe asks Allen a bunch of trivia questions.
Star Wars 7×7: Episode 843 covers the Star Wars Rebels episode “The Last Battle.”
Star Wars 7×7: Episode 844 covers the Lando news and a nice observation about the importance of comedy that seems to be placed in the Han Solo movie given who the directors are and the choice for Lando and Han.
Talk Star Wars: Episode 46 begins with listener feedback and tackles lots of topics including seeing Star Wars from a different perspective, Rogue One trailer moments, Vader’s lightsaber, what Star Wars experience would you want to experience again for the first time, whether Yoda crashed Luke’s X-wing, the prequels take on Jedi, Jedha, and Alan Tudyk almost playing a pilot in Rogue One. Good episode with lots of fun Star Wars discussion.
The Sandcrawler: Episode 2 covers news and recent toy stories. I have to say I really love listening to these guys. They’re collectors with heart.
The Sandcrawler: Episode 3 has listener feedback and Rogue Friday stories. Dan recounts his Toys R Us story and how Tarkin bought him pizza. They roundtable some Force Friday with Joe and Chris from Brews and Blasters, and Rob from Generation X-Wing. Good episode.
