Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.
Assembly of Geeks: Summer Movie Recap & Suicide Squad Review starts with their thoughts on this summer’s movies, biggest surprises, biggest disappointments, then they talk news. They cover Jimmy Smits, Marvel TV/Netflix, and they share their thoughts on Suicide Squad. Good episode.
Beltway Banthas: Interview with Rep. Jason Saine of NCs 97th district. Jason talks about his Star Wars fandom and how Star Wars plays a part of his political life. It’s a neat interview, and while there are a few weird audio issues, it’s still worth a listen.
Blast Points: Episode 33 starts with the news, Jimmy Smits, Two-Tubes, Bistan, U-Wing, they talk human Jabba, speculate about flashbacks, dive into Episode VIII news, Han movie news, the Han Solo comic, and tv rumors and news. Pretty much a jammed packed episode with news and fun discussion.
Blast Points: Episode 34 they cover the new Rogue One trailer.
Blast Points: Episode 35 covers news, then they pay homage to Kenny Baker with an R2-D2 discussion. Good episode.
Brews and Blasters: Episode 83 is their Rogue One trailer coverage, plus some action figure discussion and some side roads. Fun episode.
Children of the Force: Episode #44 they talk a little about the LEGO The Force Awakens video game, LEGO The Freemaker Adventures, news, Battlefront, they read some of the new Rogue One entries from the Star Wars Databank, cover Forrest Whitaker’s latest comments, Star Wars Rebels news, and they go over the Rogue One trailer.
Coffee with Kenobi: Coffee Chat with Joe Taylor they talk about Star Wars fandom and helping each other out.
Databank Brawl: Episode 16 pits Sio Bibble against the Gonk droid in a showdown on Hosnian Prime. This one gets gruesome and features a Palpatine cameo. Fun one.
Fauxthentic History: Episode 1 covers the battle of Hoth. This is a brand new podcast hosted by Bryan Young (Full of Sith) and Holly Frey (Stuff You Missed in History Class). They tackle various subjects and treat it in universe, so for this one they discuss the battle of Hoth like it really happened. It’s about a half hour long and covers the entirety of the battle, the key players and the key events. Kind of interesting but the approach means it’s a bit more serious than I was expecting. It has more of an informational focus. This one would be good for listeners who don’t know much about Hoth already.
Fly Casual: Episode 101 they get dirty with Pokemon, review Darth Vader #23, Star Wars #21, they go through Life Debt (spoilers), they talk Han Solo movies and Disney’s long term movie plans, plus the TV option. Good episode.
ForceCenter: Episode 24 they talk about playing Star Wars as kids and growing up with it. Afterwards they get into some fun discussions with listener questions which leads to Boss Nass impersonations.
ForceCenter: Rogue One Trailer Reaction episode focuses entirely on the new trailer. Pretty good episode.
Full of Sith: Episode CLXXIX pays homage to Kenny Baker as Bryan and Amy discuss Kenny, R2-D2, and droids in general.
Geek Out Loud: Episode 190 features Steve and Erich as they watch the Olympics, talk Nine Lives, Suicide Squad (which Erich was finally able to see), and Marvel movies as they wait for the Rogue One trailer to drop. The trailer drops, they share their thoughts, Teresa and Mama Lo join in. Then Shazbazzar and Riley drop in Riley. Long one, but fun.
Idiot’s Array: Episode 30 they talk Star Wars Celebration Europe and the panels with guest Matt Neve who was there. Okay sound quality and discussion.
Rebel Force Radio: Episode 8.12.2016 features guest Savanna Kiefer as they dissect the Rogue One trailer. Then they go into news, new TFA releases, the young Lando rumor, Star Wars TV show news, and recap the history of the live action tv series that never happened.
Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 132 opens with a Rogue One trailer discussion, then they review Pete’s Dragon with Mark Oguschewitz as they stay away from spoilers. Then they talk with author Adam Bray about his new Marvel book. Good episode.
Star Wars Oxygen: Volume 33 breaks down the spreadsheet for The Force Awaken‘s themes, they discover a new piece of Rey music in the Blu-ray credits, and analyze a familiar Kylo Ren theme in The Phantom Menace. Excellent episode.
Take Cover: Episode 8 they talk new releases, they chat with Roger Christian about Aliens and Star Wars, which is an excellent little interview with good audio quality. They also talk with Star Wars artist Dave Ross, and afterwards they delve deeper into Star Wars comics. Good episode.
Talk Star Wars: Episode 36 dives into lots of listener questions and fun discussions as they touch on balance, lightsabers, why Snoke isn’t Anakin, Sith, Force ghosts, Ashla, Bogan, Bendu, therapy Ewoks, Kylo unmasked–which is an excellent observation and something I haven’t heard anyone else discuss. After the credits they delve into Life Debt spoilers as they discuss Gallius Rax. Great episode.
