Here is this week’s Around the Web news roundup of Star Wars and beyond.

Book News

  • You can get a three chapter preview of Star Wars: Bloodlines by Claudia Gray via Instafreebie. It’s officially endorsed by Del Rey, but they do want you to sign up for something called Playcrafting, so expect spam.
  • Speaking of Bloodlines, upcoming Star Wars director Rian Johnson had some input on the novel. Jen Heddle talk about that and the other important reasons why you should check out Bloodlines over on StarWars.com.
  • Timothy Zahn‘s next book now has a cover and title – StarCraft: Evolution. Release date is September 15 for the 208 page hardcover.

An official video game tie-in novel set in the StarCraft universe—part of our new line of books in partnership with Blizzard Entertainment.

An original StarCraft novel by Timothy Zahn, with an ambitious new story which will help usher that universe into a new age of storytelling following the upcoming release of Blizzard’s new game in the StarCraft II series, StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void.

  • Tech Insider takes a deeper look into The Force Awakens: Incredible Cross-sections art of the Millennium Falcon.
  • The Making of The Force Awakens book may be cancelled. This is an interesting as J.W. Rinzler was recently interviewed on Blast Points Podcast (Episode 17) and indicated he was no longer with Lucasfilm. I hadn’t thought much of it at the time as authors frequently work freelance and I thought the book may have been completed at this point. But Jedi Bibliothek reported that the book has been listed as cancelled. Rinzler also responded on Twitter a bit cryptically so we’ll just have to wait and see what’s up.

Fandom News

  • The Star Wars Podcast Awards winners have been revealed! But you’ll have to listen to a podcast to find out the winners. Good news is there are a lot of great guests and they did a great job on the ceremony. Enjoy!
  • StarWars.com has a list of some of the game deals for May the 4th Be With You.
  • LEGO has released three new TFA shorts.

Movie & Television News

  • Mads Mikkelsen revealed who his character is in Star Wars: Rogue One on Sky News. Given the amount of time before the movie comes out, you might as well listen to this one as it isn’t that big of a deal and it’s a neat tidbit into who he’s going to be.

  • There’s a new video out on the LEGO Freemaker Adventures showing off the voice actors. The show will debut June 20th on Disney XD.

  • I like westerns and I like Woody Harrelson, but I’m not completely sold on this one yet. Still worth sharing. Here’s the trailer for The Duel which will be out in June.

  • There’s a new trailer out for Hunt for the Wilderpeople which will also be out in June. This one looks pretty funny.

  • Here Alone looks like a nice take on a zombie movie. No release date yet.

  • And a new trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence.

Toy & Collectible News

  • For May the 4th Be With You, LEGO is doing some promotions and The Brick Fan has a complete rundown.
  • The Sideshow 4-LOM is up for pre-order.
  • 3A Toys unveiled another weird Star Wars branded item that’s a little on the kinky side. Angel Cake TQ is a Thai Toy Expo Exclusive limited to 180. The Thai Toy Expo is May 5th, and the cost is 16,000 Baht (~$457). If you’re unfamiliar with 3A Toys, a lot of the collecting comes down to the aftermarket and eBay.
