Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.
Assembly of Geeks: The Matrix Ruins, Batman Returns & Dinosaur Rages episode touches on Star Wars collectibles, Agent Carter shirts, the Heroes comic, Independence Day 2, Christopher Lee, Jurassic World, Batman Returns, and The Matrix. Quite the variety of topics.
Taking Over E3 and Preparing for Disneyworld episode features guest Genese Davis who talks about going to E3. They talk about Han having a wife in the Marvel comics, Disney being in negotiations with Ewan McGregor for Star Wars movies, Transformers SDCC exclusives, and some Disney World tips.
Collectors Cast: Episode 9 features a whole lot of Steve Sansweet as he joins James to pretty much co-host much of the show. Steve talks about Rancho Obi-Wan, Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, recent events, and there’s an audio segment from Star Wars Celebration Anaheim where Steve gives an audio tour of the Rancho Obi-Wan experience. After about an hour, Mark comes on and shares an discussion he had with Anton Torres from Fantasy Flight Games. Then Mark and James talk about UK Toy Fair and Nuremberg Toy Fair.
ForceCast: Episode #356 is hosted by Justin Bolger and starts with an interview with Daniel Warren Johnson, the creator of the Star Wars webcomic Green Leader. Dan talks about the inspiration for the webcomic and the challenges involved. It’s a nice interview with a talented Star Wars fan. Be sure to check out his webcomic, it’s online and free. Afterwards Justin, Megan, John, and Paul review Kanan #3. Then Justin has a great interview with Alexander Freed who has written Star Wars comics and short stories, and has written the upcoming novel Twilight Company. He also talks about working on the upcoming mobile game Star Wars Uprising. Great episode overall, in fact I’m going to have to start listening to more episodes of The ForceCast. Justin is doing a awesome job as the host.
Full of Sith: Episode CXVIII is a mini-episode with a quick update from Mike, then a short segment with Bryan and Timothy Zahn as he gives the correct pronunciations for his characters and hard to pronounce words. Good one for Zahn fans.
Geek Out Loud: Episode 142 is a dance party, which means Steve plays lots of dance music. But there’s also the Pass the Corn segment with Erich covering movies in June, the Ghostbusters remake, Jurassic World, Inside Out, Max, Ted 2, and Jaws. Steve covers listener emails touching on Star Wars, Man of Steel and Disney tips. As usual, it’s a long episode, a little bit too long for my tastes, but you may want to check it out. I certainly enjoy the movie segments with Erich.
RebelForce Radio: Episode 6.5.15 took a while for me to get around to. They cover more Star Wars Celebration Anaheim stories, a lot of Star Wars publishing discussion, and then more Celebration discussion.
Round 3: Episode 58 pits the Adam’s Family versus The Munsters, Bigfoot versus Lochness, and Fibi versus Joey. Fun discussions as always and a nice way to break up your podcast playlists since the Round 3 episodes are fairly short.
Rock Out Loud: Underrated Music episode cover’s Kristin’s trip to London, some DJ stories, listener feedback, then their top underrated song picks. There’s some really really good ones in this one: Def Leppard “Paper Sun”, Bon Jovi “Blood Money”, Led Zeppelin “Nobody’s Fault But Mine” and even a Bruce Springsteen song I liked. There are some technical difficulties in the middle of this episode though, enough to warrant some editing. Otherwise a good episode.
Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 81 features a nice interview with Star Wars author Adam Bray. They cover his work with animals, working on Ultimate Star Wars, dealing with canon and legends, and working on Absolutely Everything You Need to Know About Star Wars. Then they talk with guests David and Luann Manderville about Star Wars Weekends, plus there’s a quick interview with James Arnold Taylor. Good episode with lots of Star Wars.
Episode 80 features their favorite David Letterman Star Wars moments as they commemorate his retirement. There’s also a new segment of Ask Tink, a discussion with Tricia Barr who talks about being a Star Wars author and her experiences at Star Wars Weekends, another segment with Dave Skale covering the history of Disney’s Tomorrowland area, and some audio with Bonnie Piesse, Deep Roy and Erik Bauersfeld from Star Wars Celebration Anaheim. All in all, another good episode to check out.
Steven and Stephen on Steven: Episode 4 is a mini-episode covering Poltergeist, both the remake and the original. The moral of the story – the remake sucks something awful. Seriously, they tear into it. I haven’t seen it, and after listening to their review, I’ll make no plans in doing so. The original is still the way to go.
