IDW and Marvel recently announced that they would be teaming up to do a new IDW Artist’s Edition, this time for Star Wars. Keep in mind these are uncolored collections showcasing the original artwork in their original sizes. This also means they’re very big.

Now sizes vary with some measuring 15″ x 22″, 12″ x 17″ or 12.25” x 17.25”. They’re all hardcover and come at a steep price point ($125 to $200). Page lengths also vary from 144 to 216 pages. Also keep in mind that they don’t alway collect complete issues. Sometimes they will feature as many as fifteen issues, but only have five nearly complete ones. Still, this is a pretty tempting high dollar comic collectible. There aren’t any details yet on which issues will be collected in the edition, and while they mentioned collecting Marvel Comic’s 1977 Star Wars, they also mentioned Howard Chaykin, Walter Simonson, Carmine Infantino, Tom Palmer, and Al Williamson. Only nine issues came out in 1977, and those were all done by Howard Chaykin, so this collection will definitely be branching out into later years. It will be out this Fall.
