Beloved Star Wars author A.C. Crispin passed away today. TOR.com posted a very nice post, and fans have posted their condolences on Facebook and Twitter. We here at Roqoo Depot mourn the passing of a great author. Farwell Ann.

The Black Series: Wave One

There has been a lot of talk about Hasbro’s new Black Series, especially the 6″ line that breaks the old 3 3/4″ collectible scale. As a toy collector myself, I’ve never been married to any one scale of collectible. To me, the important aspects are quality and quantity. While the new 6″ Black Series only has eight figures that have been revealed so far, they do succeed in the quality bracket. Each figure has very nice sculps, good paint applications, a decent amount of accessories and quite a bit of articulation.

Wave one of The Black Series 6″ is comprised of Darth Maul, Luke Skywalker in his pilot outfit, R2-D2 and Sandtrooper. Of the four, the Sandtrooper seems to be the more elusive figure to find, at least as of the moment. As far as tracking them down out in the wild, they’re most easily found at Target department stores and they’ve begun popping up at Toys R Us.   • Kicking things off, author John Jackson Miller revealed on Twitter that Kenobi is set to debut at #12 on the New York Times Best Sellers hardcover list.
  • Meanwhile William Shakespeare’s Star Wars is hanging in there for it’s seventh week, now at #18 on the New York Times Best Sellers list.
  • Star Wars Books, Del Rey’s Star Wars Facebook outlet, posted some proposed artwork for Timothy Zahn’s Scoundrels. The artwork shows two different versions of Eanjer Kunarazti. Fair warning, if you haven’t read Scoundrels yet, you’ll want to stay away from this post as it goes into spoiler territory.
