And here’s this week’s news.

Art

Star Wars Artist Dave Dorman is having a July sale on many of his best Star Wars prints. Pick two for $100 or go crazy and buy them all.

Books

Author Aaron Allston has finished his second short story for Time Traveled Tales which has surpassed its initial goals and almost all of its stretch goals. There’s still time to get in, so don’t hesitate to add your pledge. Aaron also teased the cover image for Five By Five 2: No Surrender which will feature short stories by him, Kevin J. Anderson, William C. Dietz, Brad R. Torgersen and R. M. Meluch.

Christie Golden revealed that she’s working on two new projects, one of them for Blizzard (a new StarCraft novel possibly?). As much as I have my fingers crossed for Sword of the Jedi, it might be too much to hope  that the other one is a Star Wars book (but I’m still hoping!).

Ender’s Game is getting a lot of attention due to the boycott of the movie and the outrageous comments and opinions of the book’s author, Orson Scott Card. The Mary Sue has a pretty good rundown for those who want to catch up.

Like superheroes? Well Kevin J. Anderson has two superhero eBooks that are on sale for the entire month of July: The Last Days of Krypton and Enemies & Allies.

StoryBundle is currently doing a name your own price eBook bundle that includes books like In Heroes Years…I’m Dead by Michael A. Stackpole (a great superhero novel akin to Kick Ass and Watchmen), Hopscotch by Kevin J. Anderson, On My Way to Paradise by David Farland (aka Dave Wolverton) and The Disappeared by Kristine Kathryn Rusch.

Pre-orders are now up for Troy Denning‘s upcoming Forgotten Realms novel The Sentinel. Troy also posted that fans who would like to get a signed copy of his latest Star Wars novel Crucible can do so via Barnes & Noble. Here are the contact details…

Open Road Media is having a summer sale on 150 of their eBooks with prices up to 75% off. This sale includes A Coming Of Age by Timothy Zahn. It’s not your typical Zahn novel, but it’s an interesting read.

Comics

Looking forward to Dark Times: A Spark Remains? Well artist Doug Wheatley gives fans a little tease

“…inside, he is coiled fury … limitless rage. Like fire and lightning … or a crushing ocean of hate.”

As written by author Randy Stradley

makes one love their job.

Randy Stradley also mentioned on the Dark Horse Message Boards that Dark Times will be getting an omnibus.

John Jackson Miller has posted the latest comic sales stats for June on The Comichron, so be sure to check that out.

Conventions

Star Wars artist Dave Dorman will be heading to San Diego Comic Con but he won’t just be slinging art or his exclusive Wasted Lands print, he’ll also be teasing a documentary him and his wife have been working on for Heavy Metal.

Disney has revealed that their big D23 Expo will include Star Wars.

For the first time at the D23 Expo, Star Wars fans can have access to experiences created for them by Lucasfilm and Disney. Darth Vader: The Evolution of a Villain, located in the DCP pavilion, showcases the development of the iconic villain from early concepts to striking realization. Crash Course in the Force: Star Wars Saga 101, presented by Lucasfilm’s resident authority Pablo Hidalgo in Stage 23, will give Star Wars newbies and experts alike a thorough grounding in all matters of the Force and the Star Wars legacy.

Interviews

Author Paul S. Kemp was on Dungeon Crawlers Radio to talk about his latest book A Discourse in Steel as well as his upcoming Forgotten Realms novel The Godborn.

Television

The SyFy channel has an upcoming show that focuses on cosplay and might be something fans will want to check out. Entitled Heroes of Cosplay, the show sounds like it will be a bit of reality/competition for a group of cosplayers. It’s set for six episodes and will start August 13th. Jedi News has the details.

Misc

And to wrap things up, how about some more Course of the Force, this time with Billy Dee Williams doing some karaoke in the Mos Eisley Cantina.
