lucaslogo610In an official statement to Game Informer, Disney confirmed that they are closing LucasArts.

“After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games. As a result of this change, we’ve had layoffs across the organization. We are incredibly appreciative and proud of the talented teams who have been developing our new titles.”

Update:  Although Kotaku reported today that Star Wars 1313 was cancelled, according to Game Informer the game is still a possibility

  1. Since Disney is in charge of Lucasfilm and the “Star Wars” franchise, it wouldn’t make sense for rival Cartoon Network to continue airing “Clone Wars” much longer.

  2. I’m not surprised that this happened because Disney gutted their own vg studio a few years back so that it would only do licensing. Oh well farewell Lucasarts
