Scoundrels is getting closer, and to help tide readers over, we have no less than two prequel stories to get us there. First up, the eNovella Winner Lose All.

Winner Lose All is a eNovella lead-in to Timothy Zahn’s upcoming book Scoundrels. The book stars Lando Calrissian and three other members of the Scoundrels cast: Tavia and Bink Kitik (twin sisters), and Zerba Cher’dak (a Balosar). The 65 page story is about a two hour read, and for a $2, it’s not a bad deal.

The plot starts off pretty simple. There’s a guy holding a high stakes card game in Danteel City. The main prize is a rare, stone statue worth millions of credits. Among the numerous gamblers competing for the jackpot is Lando. From there, things get complicated. Lando runs into some crooks he’s familiar with, the Kitik twins. What started as an earnest attempt to win a high stakes card game spins into a complex game of cat mouse involving murder, fake statues, and a long shot at justice. In the end, it’s a nice story to get introduced to some of the characters. It’s also a good primer for getting readers ready for some Oceans 11 action. For the price, it’s worth checking out, especially if you plan on getting Scoundrels.

I give it a three out of five metal bikinis.
