Today Roqoo Depot wishes Star Wars author L. Neil Smith a happy birthday. Back in 1983, nearly 28 years ago, he wrote Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu for Del Rey, one of the oldest Star Wars Expanded Universe novels (it is preceded by Splinter of the Mind’s Eye 1978, and The Han Solo Adventures 1979-1980). The book was followed by Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon, and Lando Calrissian and the Starcave of ThonBoka later that same year. All three books were then released as an omnibus in 1994: The Lando Calrissian Adventures.

Lester Neil Smith III was born in Denver, Colorado. His father was a United States Airforce officer, so his childhood was spent in many different places. He would later grow up to be a science fiction writer and a Libertarian, running for political office several times, and even presenting campaigns to run for President. If you would like to know more about him, some interesting info can be found here, or on his website http://www.lneilsmith.org.
