Todd Kenreck, editor in chief for MSNBC’s In-Game named Star Wars: The Old Republic the game of the year. Entered into a competition against Portal 2, Skyrim, Batman: Arkham City, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Kenreck had nothing but praise for TOR. He listed the tech innovation, story telling, art and finished with:
“They redefined what a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game could be.”
You can catch the entire announcement/mini-review on video at MSNBC Online.
Kenreck isn’t alone in picking TOR as game of the year. So did GameSpy with sentiments echoing Kenreck.
“we’ve become fully immersed in SWTOR unlike any MMO before it.”
Not bad for a game that launched less than a month ago. Congratulations to everyone involved in creating SWTOR.

Today’s the day, everyone. After years of waiting and angsting, Bioware’s The Old Republic launches officially to the gaming public.
I’ve clocked in about thirty hours between the beta tests and the early access for pre-orders, taken copious amounts of notes, and unintentionally skipped several meals because I was too busy to look at the clock to remind myself that sustenance is a good thing. So without further ado, let’s jump in and take a look at the newest entry into the Star Wars gaming library and the MMO market.
To the jump!
If you haven’t signed up for Beta testing, there are still a few days left. According to TheOldRepublicOrDie.com, Beta testing of Star Wars: The Old Republic will start September 2nd. Friday is coming up fast, so if you haven’t signed up you can do so here.

Drew Karpyshyn revealed the title of his newest Star Wars novel: The Old Republic: Revan. Karpyshyn talks about the book on the official TOR website.
Q: How does it feel to finally reveal that the title of your latest Star Wars book is Revan?
A: I’d like to start by saying how gratifying it was to work on this book. Knights of the Old Republic™ (KOTOR) was my first creative foray into the Star Wars universe, so writing Revan felt a little bit like I was returning to my roots. I also know a lot of fans have been patiently waiting a long time to find out what happened to Revan after KOTOR — it’s probably the number one question I’m asked on my website. I’m glad the story is finally being told, and I’m ecstatic that I’m the one who gets to tell it.
