There are a lot of Star Wars podcasts out there, and I listen to a few, so I thought fans might be interested in a combination podcasts review/roundup. Expect this to be a periodic column, and be sure to let us know what Star Wars podcasts you’re interested in.

Bombad Radio: Episode 76 is a must hear podcast for The Clone Wars fans as it includes a great interview with voice actor Tom Kane. Tom performed a few voices, from Yoda and Yularen to his absolutely perfect Morgan Freeman. It also delves into some details on a Yoda arc Tom worked on for The Clone Wars Season 6 which we may or may never see. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

With the recent end of season 5 of The Clone Wars and the announcement that there will be no season 6, there has been quite a bit of activity from the cast. In case you might have missed any, here’s a roundup of the various interviews, as well as James Arnold Taylor’s touching address to the fans.

Interviews

James Arnold Taylor’s Letter to the Fans (in its entirety)

Last Friday was a red letter date for me as the actor that has had the honor of portraying and bringing voice to one of the most well known characters in not just Star Wars history, but film and televisions as well, Obi-Wan Kenobi, for well over a decade.  Red letter in a way that brought both happiness and great sadness. Lots of news this week. Aside from some of the big news like the Star Wars Episode VII director or the new Darth Maul book by Joe Schreiber (with an early 2014 release), there’s been some other noteworthy headlines.

First up, Star Wars Celebration Europe tickets have gone on sale. If you haven’t bought yours yet (and if you can go), you can get them here on the official site.

The animated short LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out will be out on DVD on March 26 and will include a LEGO mini-figure. (via starwars.com)

In interview news, Star Wars Report interviewed Stephen Stanton covering his work as Colonel Meebur Gascon in the recent droid arc in The Clone Wars. Club Jade interviewed fellow voice actor James Arnold Taylor. And Amazing Stories posted an interview with Kevin J. Anderson covering his new sequel to The Saga of the Seven Suns, The Dark Between the Stars.

In completely unrelated news, comic writer Tom Taylor is investing his billions in the construction of doomsday devices. While he directly disavowed the rumor, he simultaneously threatened to destroy the neighborhoods of anyone who opposes him. We’re unsure how far along he is in the construction of such weapons of mass destruction, but we’ll keep you posted.

Some quick headlines in the news.

The release date everyone has been waiting for…Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith 3D…okay, maybe not the one you’ve been waiting for. Still, the release date for Revenge of the Sith 3D has been bumped up a week to October 4, 2013. (via Box Office Mojo)

Over on EUCantina.net, you can check out an interview they did with Annihilation author Drew Karpyshyn. Knights Archive also has an interview with Drew. These are in addition to the interviews posted earlier by FANgirl Blog and Roqoo Depot.

And speaking of interviews, IGN did one with The Clone Wars voice actor James Arnold Taylor where he talks about being Obi-Wan, killing the chosen one and what it’s like being a Jedi ladies man…or something to that effect.

Day 3 at Star Wars Celebration VI, or in more dramatic terms, The Penultimate Day! I honestly didn’t have a whole lot on my schedule today, which was kind of nice as it gave me more time to look around and take pictures. Plus I finally got to check out the Rancho Obi-Wan Experience. However the first point on the agenda was the DK Booth. Continue Reading On Station At Celebration: Day 3…

The Clone Wars Season 4 might be over, but we’ve got a very special interview to help ease the waiting for Season 5. We interviewed James Arnold Taylor, the voice actor for Obi-Wan Kenobi. James was nice enough to do an audio interview, so we turned it into a cool little video. Not only does James answer our questions, he does some other awesome voices too!

You can also check out the trailer for James’ “Talking to Myself” one man show.

Newsarama posted an interview with The Clone Wars voice actor James Arnold Taylor on Friday. The interview includes exclusive pictures from the new Darth Maul episodes as well as some video clips.

James, let’s start by talking Clone Wars. This big final arc of the season sees the return of Darth Maul. While the initial encounter between Darth Maul and Obi-Wan was of course not played by you in the live action film, this is going to be a big thing for your character. What do you do to build up to something that is this momentous for the character, but is playing off of something you didn’t initially take part in?

JAT: Well, you watch that confrontation, you watch the film, you know. I watched Phantom Menace again to reconnect with specifically that scene. Usually when I’m watching the prequels, watching what Ewan McGregor did or studying him in any way, or even studying the original films to study Sir Alec Guinness, I am zoned into the whole character. With this, I felt I really need to concentrate on just that scene and what’s happening. The whole thing for me is he didn’t kill him! And he cut off Anakin’s limbs, and he didn’t kill him! He never gets to really get that in! There’s all that rage, it’s really important for the whole arc of Obi-Wan Kenobi, because it’s the one time he really gives in to that more carnal side of himself. He’s just going, “that’s it, you’re done, you’re toast.”

You can read the full interview here which includes a lot of nice insight into the upcoming episodes.
