To kick things off, how about some reassuring news regarding Dark Horse Comics and Star Wars. According to Bleeding Cool, Star Wars will be with Dark Horse Comics for the entirety of 2014.
They will continue to make Darth Vader miniseries, Star Wars Legacy will remain an ongoing book and will alternate between artists every six issues and the mini-series based on George Lucas’ original drafts, The Star Wars, will have a radically different logo to differentiate it.

In movie news this week, the 1988 film Willow was released in blu-ray for the first time. The film stars Warwick Davis and Val Kilmer, was directed by Ron Howard, and based on a story by George Lucas. If you look closely while watching the film, you might also spot Kenny Baker (R2-D2) as a Nelwyn musician.
Kick-Ass 2 has a red band trailer out now courtesy of MTV. The release date is now set for August 16th.

Palpatine Heading to Celebration Europe

The Emperor Joins Celebration VI

Last week it was announced that Ian McDiarmid will be attending Star Wars Celebration VI. Ian is famous for his portrayal of Darth Sidious and Palpatine. Not only will he be in attendance, but he’ll also be available for autographs.

Happy Birthday, Ian McDiarmid

Today Roqoo Depot wishes actor Ian McDiarmid a very happy birthday. For Star Wars fans, Mr. McDiarmid is most famous for playing the role of Palpatine, be it Emperor or Senator, in five of the six Star Wars films.
Ian was born in Carnoustie, Scotland. At an early age he developed a love for acting, but ended up studying for a M.A. in Clinical Psychology at the University of St. Andrews. Later he switched to theater at the Royal Academy of Glasgow. He focused on theater and starred in many Shakespearean plays, winning numerous awards. From 1990 to 2001, he was also the Joint Artistic Director of London’s Almeida Theatre. His role as Harry Hackamore in the play Seduced (1982) netted the attention of George Lucas. and Return of the Jedi director Richard Marquand.
