In this interesting tale of swords and sorcery, Paul S. Kemp delivers another dose of Erevis Cale that’s just as riveting and exciting as the previous novels. Erevis has already undergone his transformation into a shade, and now he must discover a new life for himself. Yet there is always some villain afoot that draws Cale back into the scheme of things. Author Paul S. Kemp did a Q&A on Reddit that covers not only his Star Wars books, but also his non-Star Wars books. Paul talks about the freedom he has with his writing, how he got into Star Wars, some of his favorite authors and books, and even delves into his preferred brand of scotch. One very interesting thing he mentioned was this…

I’d love to write the novel in which Grandmaster Luke Skywalker goes out in a way that suits such a great character.

Paul S. Kemp Interview, Excerpt, and More

This week Omnivoracious.com‘s Susan J. Morris posted a very nice interview with author Paul S. Kemp. The interview focused on anti-heroes and Kemp’s use of them in his novels. Questions and comments ranged from his Forgotten Realms work with Erevis Cale to his more recent Star Wars novel Deceived and Darth Malgus. Lots of great aspects covered including writing villains and lots of info on writing the anti-hero. You can read the article here.

In other news, Paul recently posted an excerpt from his upcoming Forgotten Realms book Godborn, the latest edition to his Erevis Cale novels. Godborn won’t be out until November next year so if you haven’t read any of the Erevis Cale novels there is still plenty of time to catch up. You can read the excerpt here.

Wrapping things up, Paul also chimed in with another great dose of humor on his website. No drunk Tweeting, but he does wax poetic about Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos, publishing, the Kindle Fire, and some humorous references to Lord of the Rings. Read it here and don’t miss out on the fun.

And don’t forget, Kemp’s Star Wars book Riptide comes out October 25 in both paperback and digital formats.

As an ongoing part of our reviews of non-Star Wars books by Star Wars authors, I’ve reviewed the final book in the Erevis Cale Trilogy (though not the last book in the ongoing series) Midnight’s Mask by Paul S. Kemp. This story wraps up the hero’s quest to stop the Sojourner and his dark, mysterious plot to harness untold amounts of magical power. As the characters continue their transformations, they face even more difficult challenges and foes. Click here to read my full review.

Continuing the Erevis Cale saga written by Paul S. Kemp (author of Deceived and Crosscurrent), I jumped into Dawn of Night. This story delves into dark places with even darker characters. A new villain is revealed with startling power and an intriguing personal philosophy, and readers get to enjoy a healthy dose of characters and action. Click here to read the full review.

Twilight Falling is the first book in the The Erevis Cale Trilogy written by Paul S. Kemp. Having read both Star Wars: Crosscurrent and The Old Republic: Deceived I was interested in reading some of Mr. Kemp’s non-Star Wars material. I made my leap by purchasing The Erevic Cale Trilogy omnibus edition, and having finished the first book, I can safely say I didn’t land in a puddle of crap. Now I’m not a seasoned fantasy reader. I’ve read The Lord of the Rings, and Matthew Stover’s Acts of Caine series as well as William King’s Gotrek & Felix novels, but that’s it. Regardless Twilight Falling has a lot to love including assassins, wizards, halflings, and a magical object that holds the key to transformation for everyone involved.
