Just announced by io9, Joe Schreiber is coming back to Star Wars with Darth Maul: Lockdown. Here’s the synopsis:
From the mind of Joe Schreiber, New York Times bestselling author of Star Wars: Death Troopers, comes the delirious follow-up to last year’s Darth Plagueis. In a tale of retribution and survival set before the events of The Phantom Menace, Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious dispatch Sith apprentice Darth Maul on a secret mission to infiltrate a criminal empire operating from inside Cog Hive Seven-a hidden prison teeming with the galaxy’s most savage criminals. There, he must contend against the scummiest and most villainous in gladiatorial death matches while carrying out his masters’ clandestine commands. Failure is not an option; success will ignite the revenge of the Sith against the Jedi Order.

Darth Maul: Death Sentence comes to a close today with Death Sentence #4.
As more Jedi—Obi-Wan included!—and clone trooper reinforcements arrive to take Savage Opress and the crooked mine owner into custody, Darth Maul convinces the locals that the Jedi are in league with the mine owner who exploited them. If the Jedi fight the natives, they’ll be killing innocents. If they don’t, they’ll be killed themselves! It’s the perfect distraction for Maul to find and release his brother!

On Writing Maul
October 30, 2012 at 9:00 am | Posted in Art, Comic Books, Dark Horse, Star Wars News | Leave a commentTags: darth maul, death sentence, tom taylor
With the Darth Maul: Death Sentence mini-series coming to an end tomorrow with issue #4, comic writer Tom Taylor decided to share his thoughts on writing Maul.
“This week, Star Wars – Darth Maul: Death Sentence comes to an end every bit as nasty as the Sith lord himself.
I have to say, I’ve absolutely loved writing Darth Maul.
Before I started, I had a few people ask me how I could write a character like Maul. Many saw him as little more than a scary face and a few flips but what I discovered was a complicated, tortured, calculating and Machiavellian character who was a whole lot of fun. I loved testing him in this series, watching him pull through and, finally, watching him pull the strings. I’d love to get the chance to write him again some day. It was also nice to create the Jedi Judd and Salmara, and go back and show some of the childhood of Dray, a character I created in Star Wars: Invasion.
Of course, there’s no way that Maul would have been half the character he was on the page without Bruno Redondo. Bruno’s work on this series has been fantastic. His facial expressions, his action, the small moments and the big, he’s conquered them all along with the brilliant Michael Atiyeh. And all this wrapped up in those gorgeous painted covers by Dave Dorman. Cheers to all of these guys along with Michael Heisler, Randy Stradley and Freddye Lins. Thanks to everyone who picked up the series and to everyone who tweeted, shared, and reviewed it. Hope you like the ending.” -Tom Taylor
Tom also included a sneak peak at Darth Maul: Death Sentence #4 which you can check out here on his official site.

IGN Interviews Sam Witwer
September 28, 2012 at 1:47 pm | Posted in Interview, The Clone Wars | Leave a commentTags: darth maul, sam witwer
IGN posted an interview with The Clone Wars voice actor Sam Witwer covering Darth Maul and it had some interesting answers from Sam.
And even there, [Palpatine's] willing to trade up.
SW: That’s the thing, the ultimate apprentice — the one that he’s really looking for — is Luke Skywalker, and ironically enough, that’s the one that does him in by not becoming his apprentice. But that’s the whole thing. The Emperor is constantly looking for the replacement. And Darth Maul perhaps invents in the Emperor’s mind this idea that you can recycle these guys, that if you think they’re killed, maybe they’re not. Maybe there’s something more you can do with them. He certainly recycles Anakin when he’s been burned down, and it’s very possible that this whole thing with Darth Maul puts those ideas in his head. It’s like, “Oh, perhaps I underestimated these people. Maybe you can use them for something even after they’ve been disfigured.”
