GotGKevin Feige (Marvel Studios president) let it slip first in an Antman interview with Collider, and James Gunn (writer-director) confirmed it on Twitter & Facebook.  The title of the GotG sequel is Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2.  The title could be a nod to its comic book origins and/or the awesome Starlord mixtape.  The movie begins shooting in February-March, 2016, and will release on May 5, 2017.

Just Shoot Me Now: Michael Bay Remaking The Birds

The birdsI don’t know who thought this was a good idea, but The Guardian reports that Michael Bay is doing a remake of the Hitchcock classic, The Birds.  Rumor is that Naomi Watts is up for the Tippi Hedren role.

…the film will be directed by the Dutch film-maker Diederik Van Rooijen, with Bay serving as a co-producer. The film looks set to be a co-production between Mandalay Pictures, Universal and Bay’s Platinum Dunes production house. It remains to be seen whether the birds will be giant, man-eating birds, or possibly armed with guns.

Remember the classic gas station scene?  I don’t even want to think about it.

Morgan Stanley: Not Bullish Enough on The Force Awakens?

The Force AwakensAccording to a report on Business Insider this morning, the investment firm Morgan Stanley is aware that their projected $1.95 Billion profit for The Force Awakens may not be bullish enough.

In a note to clients on Wednesday titled “Are We Bullish Enough on Star Wars?” Morgan Stanley’s Benjamin Swinburne raises the firm’s outlook for what the seventh “Star Wars” installment will bring in at the box office.

Morgan Stanley’s “base case” breakdown assumes $650 million at the US box office and $1.3 billion internationally.

In 2014, Business Insider reported on the most fan-anticipated films of 2015, and the new Star Wars movie topped the list at number 1, with Jurassic World coming in at number 5.  With Jurassic World’s powerhouse box office, I’d say all bets are off when it comes to top box office projections.
