Our Interview with Cover Artist Livio Ramondelli

Dark Horse Comics recently revealed that artist Livio Ramondelli we’ll be diving into the Legacy series to tackle the covers for Legacy #6 and Legacy #7. Below you’ll find our interview with Livio as he talks about creating the covers, his favorite Star Wars characters and more. Plus we have an exclusive first look at the cover of Legacy #7 courtesy of Dark Horse Comics.

How did you get the offer to do Star Wars covers for Dark Horse Comics?

Livio Ramondelli: It was very random and very lucky! I attend a bunch of comic conventions and I was sitting at my Artist Alley table when the great Randy Stradley happened to walk by and take my card. A few days later, I got an E-Mail asking if I’d be interested in doing some covers. It was very surreal, since Randy was someone I’d always hoped to meet one day and the idea of it happening so completely casually was pretty funny. Needless to say, I’m thrilled to be doing Star Wars covers for Dark Horse. It’s a real dream come true. And I also encourage anyone interested in doing comics professionally to go to conventions and set up shop at a table, regardless if you have any current professional gigs or not. More eyes on your work is always a good thing and you never know who can walk by. Continue Reading Our Interview with Cover Artist Livio Ramondelli…

Newsarama Interview With Hardman and Bechko of Legacy 2

Star-Wars-Legacy-4-coverGabriel Hardman and Corinna Bechko sat down with Newsarama and talked about their series, Legacy 2.  While Legacy 2 maintained some of the Legacy comics characters, it also introduced the character of Ania Solo to the GFFA, and Hardman and Bechko discuss this character and their approach to telling a Star Wars story.

We love Star Wars and set out to tell a story that could capture that epic, fun, pulpy feel that the first trilogy did so well. That said, we have no intention of dressing up Luke Skywalker’s story in different clothes and retelling it. The key is to give the reader something familiar and fresh at the same time, and we’re doing our best to pull that off. Honestly, we’re also just trying to tell a Star Wars story that we would want to read.

You can read the entire interview and their plans for Legacy 2 on Newsarama.

When you look at the massive franchise that is Star Wars, there are really two sides to it: the films and the Expanded Universe (EU). Most Star Wars fans only know about the films, even though they may know that there are books and comics. For that smaller number of Star Wars fans, the Expanded Universe is their outlet to fandom. They continue their joy of the films by diving into books and comics as the adventures of their favorite characters journey off to new worlds and against new threats. We’re all looking forward to what’s being dubbed the sequel trilogy, Episodes VII, VIII and IX. For EU fans, though, we’re all wondering what’s going to happen to the books and comics.
