One of my favorite things at Star Wars Celebration is all the cosplayers. From Stormtroopers to, well, this year, Disney Jedi, there’s always some awesome and interesting costumes to check out. This year I tried my best to take all the pics I could and try to snag a picture of every cool or unique outfit I saw. So without further ado, here’s our roundup of the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim cosplay, but a small selection of all all the awesome one’s that were there.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review including my reviews of the live podcast panels I was able to attend at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim.

Coffee With Kenobi: Celebration live panel was a lot of fun and a great way to start the day. Everyone was high off the new trailer for The Force Awakens, and Coffee With Kenobi was able to keep the fun going. They had John ‘Dak’ Morton on as a guest to talk Star Wars. He compare the film to some of Coppola’s greatest movies, The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, and talked about how Star Wars stood out from films like that because of how it inspires people. They discussed fears and overcoming them, and how those themes tie into Star Wars. John also talked about visiting the people who waiting in line overnight, his thoughts on Star Wars Rebels and Ezra’s character, and the panel he’s doing at Celebration that focuses on military personnel and Star Wars. As always, John is a great guest and they touched on some good topics. Afterwards Dan and Cory covered The Force Awakens panel that kicked off the day, touching on Kathleen Kennedy, BB-8, Rey as a scavenger, the trailer, the impact of Han and Chewie, Mark Hamill’s narration, the passing of the sword and even the cinematography. Their second guest was Jeff McGee from Assembly of Geeks and Marvin Dog Media. Jeff chatted with them about the collectibles at Celebration like the Bossk hoodie and Funko Fett. And wrapping things up was Kevin Liell from Norse Legion and a giveaway of some of their cool Star Wars jewelry. I have to admit, I was very impressed with the panel. They pulled off a live show like pro’s with great guests, great discussion and lots of fun. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

On Station At Celebration: Day 4

April 20, 2015 at 1:00 pm | Posted in Celebration, Collecting, Conventions, Events, Star Wars | Leave a comment

on-station-at-celebrationStar Wars Celebration Anaheim day four was a short day for me as I had to head out early for my flight, but it was still fun. Rather than trying to hit some more panels, I focused on checking out the things I missed and hunting down some cool cosplay pictures. All in all, it was a nice, relaxing way to end the con.

At the beginning of the day I was undecided on what I was going to do, but taking one look at the massive line that was forming up for the Gareth Edwards/Josh Trank panel, I decided to attend the Celebration worship event that was being held at the Hilton. Unfortunately James Arnold Taylor didn’t attend as was planned. Still, it was interesting. I’m actually not a regular churchgoer, but every now and then I like attending to get the experience. They had several speakers and a band who played some songs. There was a even a pastor dressed in a very high quality Obi-Wan costume, so that was a very different experience right there.

Afterwards I queued up about ten minutes before opening and waited about half an hour to get in. Once in, I headed straight for the Cartamundi booth to get card number four to complete my collection. Each day Cartamundi was giving away one card, which was pretty cool. Continue Reading On Station At Celebration: Day 4…

On Station At Celebration: Day 3

on-station-at-celebrationStar Wars Celebration Anaheim day three I’m going to do a bit different by updating this as they day progresses since I have some time before the Star Wars Rebels Season Two global premiere. For starters, let’s begin with the New Allies & New Villains: Star Wars Rebels Season 2 panel.

As usual, there’s a bit of fun with the preshow, and I think it’s worth noting so people can get the full experience of Celebration. Mark Daniels read, in jest, a Chewbacca poem, then had young volunteers come up so they could play a game. The game involved several helmets on podiums (stormtrooper helmets, etc) and some big, stuffed Star Wars angry birds. The kids threw the angry birds at the helmets to knock them off and win a prize. The really little kids got some assistance from a giant, oversized Chewbacca angry bird which helped even the odds. Continue Reading On Station At Celebration: Day 3…

on-station-at-celebrationStar Wars Celebration Anaheim day two, what a day. For me, it all started with a series of author interviews you can look forward to seeing in the very near future, and ended with the Anthony Daniels panel on the Celebration Stage. Let me just say, he knows how to put on a show. But in general, this Celebration has really raised the bar on panel quality.

I have to admit, one of my favorite things about Celebration is meeting the authors. I’m a total book nut, so my passion for the Star Wars novels is definitely at the heart of my fandom. On top of that, getting to interview them is always a great experience. I try to bring my ‘A’ game with the questions, and if I do my job well, hopefully fellow book lovers will enjoy the results. Expect to see, or if the audio turns out well, hear, from authors Christie Golden, Drew Karpyshyn, John Jackson Miller, James Luceno, Daniel Wallace, Adam Bray and Tricia Barr in the coming weeks as we post those interviews with each author talking about their books and the stories behind them. We’ll also be doing some giveaways for signed novels so keep an eye out for that too. Continue Reading On Station At Celebration: Day 2…
